I'm on a roll...I think my brain decided to stay up all night without my body's consent.

Anyway, who in here sometimes consults the tarot? Do you think it has given you guidance here and there? Would you like to try an online reading?

If yes, go:

http://www.tarot.com

You need to sign up and confirm your e-mail address, but I think you get 100 karma coins to waste amusing yourself.

Any other comments?

No but I see the tarot along the same lines as a fortune cookie, numerology and astrology, etc.

I've played with an online one now and then, I think its kind of fun. There is also an online bibliomancy somewhere around here *shuffles through some papers* .... I can't find it. But I used to go to that site every now and then to play around.

Found this Forum a little by serendipity - but since I'm 'classified' as an INTP, thought I may as well join...

For Tarot and MBTI correlations, check my (and others') post here (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=329752#post329752) :)

Hmm.. this "Page of Batons" (I knew it under Page of Wands) doesn't seem very INTP at all...

The Page of Wands
The Princess of the Shining Flame; The Rose of the Palace of Fire

Numerical Value: 7
Elemental Name: Earth of Fire

Divinatory meaning
Upright - A trustworthy, reliable young person, with an inborn desire to bring happiness, excitement and light to those around. This person is a messenger of good news and witty gossip. A person who is faithful in service to superiors.

Ill Dignified or Reversed - Honest qualities, that may turn to petulance. Someone who believes they are trustworthy, but all the time being unfaithful. A person unable to keep a confidence someone who betrays trust and spreads gossip. The card can also indicate journeys that are delayed or a change of address.

Bring happiness and light?

Most INTP's I know seem to abhore the light of day. Should ask that in the pub and it's probably not meant litrally but still.

And the rest of it. Reliable? Just don't ask us to remember your birthday or whatnot. Good news and witty gossip? Faithful in service to _superiors_?! The last one is up to interpetation but I doubt it if it's general amongst INTP's.

I don't like the Tarot or other methods to "determain" the future although I used to lay them in the past as a laugh. Now however they only have my disdain.

Tarot, psychic readers, and astrology are just ways in which humans try to have some control or understanding of the world and their role in it.

This may be best described in a response to rumors of ways to predict the next terrorist strike on the US.

Taken from snopes.com:
"...the world is a scary place, especially when you're dealing with hidden foes who might strike anywhere, at any time. Asserting that the enemy will follow a predictable pattern allows us to regain a sense of direction, to feel that we have control of our futures, to believe that we can take active steps to avoid becoming victims rather than passively awaiting our fates. What we fear most is the unknown, and these types of rumors provide us with the comfort of knowing something, even if that something proves to be bogus. Whether this sort of comfort is worth the price of the false fears that usually accompany it is up to the individual to decide."

For INTPs, I would expect it to be an amusing timekiller.
