What's wrong with AutoCAD? I have yet to see anything else that's as easy to use. It even stays out of your way reasonably well so you can draw.

So, how's that architecture major thing going? I start on the road to mine this fall... it seems like there's no room for anything else in my schedule but required classes.
Oh, yeah, most people are lazy and dumb. But, then again, stupidity is lucrative, as long as it doesn't happen to you.

...The problem with AutoCAD comes when people start using it as a design tool.
Fair enough, and good point. A tool tends to work best for its intended use.

By the way, there are a couple fairly new programs out such as REVIT and ArchiCAD that are way better than AutoCAD for any type of architectural drawing.
I haven't heard of them. I'm about a year out of the loop though, as the school didn't offer any drafting classes I hadn't taken in that last time-period.

I actually love the major and can't imagine doing anything else with my life.
I've known a number of Architects and Interior Designers in my adult life, and they've all told me this is the kind of resolve needed for up-and-coming Architects who want to make a career here. My wife is an Interior Designer and studying for her Architecture exam...obtained her qualifications to take the exam on-the-job.

Best of luck to you!
