Well, I hope you will.

Both are of geothermal areas in Yellowstone. The reddish one are the bacterial mats at Grand Prismatic Spring. The other one of the terraces. I like skies like this :hello:

Edit: Taken this last fall on my vacation in Montana/Wyoming

Hope you all like!

Breathtaking, really. Beautiful color, light, texture.

Montana and Wyoming are two of my favorite places.

I spent some time with a good friend who has a ranch in Wyoming (brandings, round-ups). I camped there once and got stuck after a rainstorm.

I want to go back..... I always have said that I could "breathe" there. Literally and in so many more ways.

I named my dog Montana.

Thank you for sharing your pictures.

Oh, I especially like the contrast provided by the dark cloud to the upper left of picture #1.

Hmm - mmm!

(And Avengardh uses symbols, for expression, in very creative ways.)

Thanks all, glad you like.

Grand Prismatic Spring is indeed much like Mars ^^. It was searingly hot, and the blue steam rolling over the red bacterial mats didnt feel very earthlike. Have some more shots if anyone is interested in them of this spot.

The camera is a Canon EOS 300D. Known in NA as a Digital Rebel. It's a fairly standard Digital SLR. Using the Kit lens (18-55mm) plus a polarising filter (which helps bring out the contrast in the sky here, and cut out unwanted reflections on the water).

It isnt about the camera though, of course. I have taken good shots with a cheap point and shoot, and bad ones with an expensive camera. The better camera just gives you more conditions you can shoot in, and more flexibility, but wont change your creative eye!

Since no one asked for more pics of mars I will, onegaishimasu ^_^.

And I agree with you about the camera, and Clara, why do you have a raven on your sig?

It was an N-ish "choice process" - which later came up in conversation with my (also NT) offspring, who pointed out several things about crows (and ravens, which are a kind of crows)... So, the short answer is: "Yes, that's a part of why."

(Now I'll be curious to learn what, exactly, your thought was - because, I probably haven't learned all the symbolic associations for them, yet ;) So far, all fit.)

Geoff - any photos from you and our other "creative eye" forumers...

*figuratively, sitting, waiting in happy anticipation - while actually stepping away, to do "useful things."*

Nice. Very clear and professional looking. I like the bacterial mats.

Ok, I'll track down some more of 'Mars' from my hard drive when I have a moment!

Now that I have finished with the rather less exciting job of finding one of myself!
