How many have played it / still playing it? What servers and classes?
I played on the Nameless, L66 Enc (I quit just after the new expansion released), L65 Wiz, and several L40-62's. Played for almost four years and was part of an elemental guild with two god kills (Fen Ro and Xeg).

I started playing it back when Kunark came out, took a lot of long breaks, and stopped playing altogether during... um... the one with the frogs. I played on the Xegony server, and I never got past level 25 because I was a casual gamer and couldn't make up my mind what race/class I wanted to be. I gave it up because of the large chunk of time you need to invest to keep up with everyone else (average player plays 15-20 hours a week, and you have to play even more if you want to be elite).
Some interesting things I've noticed:
I once saw a character with 9999 hours played. That's 417 whole days online with that character... and that's just one of his characters!
Here's (http://www.nickyee.com/hub/addiction/addiction.pdf) an interesting study of the effects of Everquest addiction. One person clocked in at 90 hours a week, which would be, let's see... about 13 hours a day. If they slept 8 hours a day, that would leave about 3 hours of not playing Everquest or sleeping.
I've also heard of a few cases of suicides over the game.
Although I've played a lot of them, I suspect that the -typical- INTx wouldn't really enjoy MMORPGs like Everquest simply because the communication is text-based and 1 out of 10,0000 online gamers knows how to spell or use correct punctuation or grammar. :D

I've had a few friends on Evercrack. Never touched the stuff myself, though.
