More of Grand Prismatic Spring (well, Mars), for those who asked!

OK, here we go, bacterial mats here we go. The image of one of the side pools shows how the colours change across one of these mats. Blue where they are hottest turning to orange in the slightly cooler edges. Hope you all enjoy!

My favourite is the last, although it is from a few yard away from where the others were taken (Grand Prismatic is a huge spring, and mostly in the others you are just seeing the blue steam and orange vapour, in the side spring you can see the graduation of the colours).

grand prismatic springs, a thermal feature (hot springs) at Yellowstone.
The orange/red are bacterial mats (specially adapted bacteria living in very high temperature and sulphurous waters
See my other thread of pictures where I gave some more detail. I posted these because a couple of people asked for more (which is why I didnt give more detail - again- of the location).
