I don't listen to Shasta much, is his music classified as progressive trance? What would be Tiesto be classified under? For some reason Sasha doesn't get my Ne going, I don't feel like I'm on a spaceship heading to a distant planet or something like that or that Godot is finally on his way.

I should answer the other thread too.

Wish I was there, have fun at the concert.

Trance or more Trancy than Housy progressive...

So Sasha would be Progressive trance leaning towards house or straight house.
Tiesto Progressive trance leaning more towards trance, or straight trance.

The classifications are somewhat inadequate because each DJ has their own unique twist.

IMHO, the "progressive" in prog trance or prog house means different things. For prog trance it means that you have softer h/l's, more layers and focus more on ambiance. For prog house, it can mean any deviation in the elements brought in, since house is more defined in the elements used to form patterns. I dunno if that made sense or not...

I've seen Tiesto in action a couple of times and honestly prefer trance for more private time or lounge environment. House and DnB is what I would listen to at a rave/concert; however, as always, there are exceptions.

I actually prefer hard trance and "goa" much more than regular trance. I listen to those privately as well. I haven't been to a rave in years so I am out of touch with the music that is played there.
