September is National Preparedness Month in the USA.
What are you doing to mark the event? Do you want us Brits to send you a food parcel or three?

I'm doing sod all to mark the event since it's obviously propaganda to make Americans feel that they are under siege. Not being a US citizen could have something to do with it also. Maybe we could ship them some tinned food.
This article (http://home.att.net/~bob.wallace/howpropagandaworks.html) springs to mind.

Just like black's have their history month, women have their breast-cancer awareness month, and the rest of them.... Boyscouts needed their own month.

Boyscouts needed their own month.
But they already have a day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scouts'_Day), what else do they want?

Please, send me a bomb (that blows up.) That way I will be considered a martyr; and people will vouch for a National Jihad day, to be sponsored with me as a victim. "The infidels will not win" will be the motto, even if the one who sends it gets pigeon-holed as Arabic, and all the Arab countries will mount defenses against US invasion. Come on! You know you want to be classified as the one who started WWIII; just like Gavrilo Princip!

Except there is no chance of any war being of the scale of WW1 or WW2 unless it involved China or Russia. The Middle East isn't the world, it is somewhat disparate and it doesn't have the military capacity to hold out against any detrmined enemy. Israel, with a far smaller military than the US, was after all was able to knock out 3 Middle Eastern countries in 6 days.

Then we need a General Ripper to demand an air strike invasion on Russia; some sort of insane confabulation. Perhaps a mercury poisoning, prolonged over a certain length of time, sent through air vents in an air force base? Damn it, I can't scheme it all.

Russia alone doesn't have the potential to be a threat either, it would need probably an alliance of sorts between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

Then we send Kim a bomb package, only, we label it PORN on the front. He'll be so excited that he won't even bother to safely check it and ends up blowing himself up! China will mount support of the fallen N.K. dictator, vouching for support from Russia, because after all "Who could have had the sophistication, to be able to attack the leader directly, and in such a capable manner?" The Russian's will fear conspiring from the U.S., in an effort to neutralize and take advantage of alliances in the East. The rest . . . As they say, is history in the making.

The Chinese military depends on a lot of redundant tech (some of it 60s vintage), its command and control systems don't compare with Western systems, and though it is putting a lot more resource into training the quality lags behind the West (especially UK, US, OZ, NZ). Surprisingly man for man I think I am correct in saying that the US can actually put more "men" into the "field".
China would come off second best against India...........
Russia's sabre rattling is just that. See,
http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/russia/articles/20070823.aspx
A lot of people see Iraq and underestimate the US forces' capabilities. They are not just fighting with one hand tied behind their backs, but both hands and hobbled legs. If 19th century imperialists had had the fire-power of today's US armed forces our world would be a very different place.........
Now can we get my thread back on track please!
For Unpreparedness Month I am going to stage a revival of that old Cold War favourite,

National Preparedness Month
On behalf of the dutch goverment we send you the entire population(appr. 5000) of my village (excluding myself OC) to be used at your disposal.. Since we have a long tradition in slave trade we can make this transaction smooth and very rewarding.....
We also like to thank the american people for preparing themselves for the coming of the slaves and we hope they have nice and pleasant preparation day..
Best regards,

Around here, National Preparedness Month means, if you don't already have your hurricane supplies together (or if you've used them up in a hurricane already this season), GET IT TOGETHER NOW, because the season isn't over yet.

You have done your part by arming Hermione with yet another Brit-ism. I may just do sod all the entire weekend now, in honor of your country.
[goes to see if Ferrus is joining me for happy hour today since i had to miss it friday. he moved quarters you know. back to school uni housing, change of strategic planning].
You can keep the tins. I may need a new pair of trainers though, if my new ones give out from fleeing without the advantage of a bike at this point. Running all the way upstairs to Canada may take it's toll on the tennies. Obviously the automotive will be out of the question.
You boys rahly are silly, you know? Yeah, under siege of the stupidity factor over here. You should all be laughing your arse off.

An thusly a brilliant marketing idea was born. Tinned trainers. Forget the standard shoe box, imagine the novelty of using a tin opener to get a non food item.

Cool! I'll be sure to stop by small villages in Africa afterwards. It will be easier to control the population and make them angry, about what happened to their brothers and sisters in America (and elsewhere.) They will join up in this cause - - - For World Domination. We are prepared!
**I'm just imagining how weird it would look, to see some weird old Indian guy, with dred locks and what almost appears to be a diaper, plotting to take over the world**
PS: Only, they won't effectively work as slaves. . . There's a difference their, hehe. And I know the Dutch people were techinical being sent, on behalf to the U.S. They're under my control, now!

What is this?
A month in which to be prepared? For what? And does nobody find it strange that one should be on alert for one month only? Why this month? Why just this month? Is it supposed to increase awareness that one should be prepared? Would one not be better off always being prepared?
This is a strange concept.
This smells like "the war on terror is totally going on, you guys... keep it in mind when we transfer more powers of authority away from you, and into the hands of those in power" propaganda. Like some kind of annual reminder, disguised as some kind of effort to 'educate' the general public. (Laughable!). Is it a recent event, or did it exist before 9/11?

The whole scheme of government strikes me as abuse of power, used in an effort to disguise ambitions within office. Too much brings to question the motivations, though it sure reminds me of Jim Jone's "White Night! White Night!" from which he controled his population. Too much reminds me of the propoganda of Nazi Germany.

I advocate we give gremlins as gifts in order to "assist" with the "cleansing process."
