At the request of some (highly confused :P) forum members, you can now specify your gender and your sexuality in your user profile.

It isn't going to display on the forum pages just yet, only inside your profile. Hopefully soon it will display in both places.

Division56, I don't actually disagree about having a check-box to specify our sexual preference - beyond the obvious, it is a distinction that affects our world view in tangible ways.

I know this sounds picky, but:

I went to edit profile to see the change and put something in for occupation. When I saved it, it showed unspecified in the info under my avatar even though I didn't change it in my profile. Not wanting to make it look like I was hiding anything, I went back and changed it to straight. But I'd rather not have it say anything because I don't think it's that relevant to me. So is there anyway we can simply eliminate the sexuality identifier completely if we individually choose to do so?

I want to be all neat and clean like those who resisted the temptation to toy with the new settings. :p

Within time, maybe a few months, everyone's will look like it.

I am currently looking at ways to make it go away with maybe a selection box. Have patience people, and don't whine quite so much. It's bad for the mind.

I think all members' entire post catalogs should be visible under their avatars. Since we are using virtual pages and not paper, there is no reason to be conservative.

I don't know, that might be a bit much.

I know this is a "CC related incident", but I am not sure why we need those under our avatars. It seems to me that the people who want to be ambiguous will keep being ambiguous.

Anyhoo, something that got left out way back when (possibly on purpose...) was to give a fill in box for sexuality rather than checkboxes. It makes more sense to have a set of checkboxes for gender and a fill in for sexuality... but can we just have a fill in box there too, if it wouldn't be too much work?
Well, Divi has already answered... but I want to register my response anyway. :D : Nooooooo ! LOL ( except, jimko seems to have changed requests in midstream - Was that "checkboxes everywhere" or "fill in the blank, for everything" ??? ( This from the guy who has the creative answer: "outdoor plumbing" for gender - ? ) )

I can't be the only one here who adds editorial comments to questionaires that I consider don't offer enough "other ( specify )" blanks ... ( and, "why is this anyone else's business" is one of those possible sometimes answers ... for me, anyway :) ) - I love that someone claimed to be 99, in an age poll, by the way. ( I love that I once knew someone who intended, if he lives to 100 years, to claim that he owes his longevity to ... a bunch of lies re: selected "vices" - lol )
