I would have wanted somebody to point this game out to me, if I hadn't known about it already. So I'm doing the same for you guys.
Doukutsu Monogatari is a fun freeware platform game. I haven't had this much fun playing games since super mario. The gameplay is more fresh than an egg and the graphics are cuter than said egg when it has just hatched. Some people have also said that the plot is better than that of half life 2. I'm taking that with a grain of salt, since I'm only at the beginning of the game and similar things have been said about the plots of final fantasy games (WRONGLY!). A strong recommendation for the plot is a strong recommendation, though.

Extract the game, then extract the english language patch and run the Cave Story Translation Installer.exe file. Follow the instructions the program gives you and you're done.
