Sometime over the summer? I could easily do Birmingham or London or any towns in the Midlands/Home counties. I might just do Manchester or other northern towns (I've never been to any of them). I'm thinking that August/September may be best to allow maximum time for planning.

I'll think about it.

16 May 2007, 01:19 PM
Maybe, it depends where it would be.

Ferrus
16 May 2007, 01:30 PM
Well it depends where everyone is coming from really doesn't it? I would say London, but if everyone is across the country Birmingham would be a better mid point.

Maybe, though I'm away all through August. Still, if you're all INTP's you will hardly miss another one.

There is Xander too... not seem him around for sometime.

Well impart knowledge of this momentous event then. :P

Given the lack of commitment here, can anyone actually say the times they will be able to come, sometime in the next year.

You pansy Pommeys! you all live within spitting distance of each other an yet you say "Maybe, it depends where it would be." Get out of your own liver tinted corner of england and go see something. For Gods sake! the closest a possible meetup would ever be to my home is 3 1/2 hours and in reality the closest meetup would probably be in Vegas which is 9 hours drive from where I live. If I get an early start though I could be there for a late lunch.

Why dont you wussies spend the $75 bucks for a plane ticket and have your meetup in spain or something.

Maybe because I am a student and I have no money?

Anyway Torquemada was cool... walking around Spain with an armed bodyguard of 500, having show trials and then publically burning everyone. What a legend, the only hardman priest.

You pansy Pommeys!

More common spelling is Pommies. And as an insult it is probably more effective coming from an Australian (which I guess you are not), as they would know what it meant.

Why dont you wussies spend the $75 bucks for a plane ticket and have your meetup in spain or something.
Becuase that would involve doing stuff. And INTPs prefer discussing possibilities to doing stuff. Can't help feeling that the American tendency to actually meet up is some kind of abandonment of revoluntiary principles.

Spoken like an American, who thinks that pure physical distance is the only thing that separates British towns and those who live in them... of course, all Americans drive... not so British. And it can cost as much (or more) for a train fare for me to get to London as for a plane ticket to another country. And to travel 50 miles from me can take over 3 hours on the train some days, plus there are people who have kids, who would have to arrange babysitters, may have to stay overnight (find somewhere etc.), so in fact a trip to London and back for me could easily take up a whole week's wages at the national average salary, despite it being 'only' 150 miles.

But I won't come regardless, cos I'm not INTP, and haven't much in common with y'all. Unless anyone actually wants me to...?

nah that sounds like us. when was the last time you lot did anything of the sort?Shooting about 2 days ago. Playing with fire on some unregular basis. Going fast as hell with a motorboat about 8-9 years ago.

Anyway I'm planning to go with my INTP friend know as zim01001 (or something like that) on the forum. I have been thinking of flying to Iceland from there to the UK and then end (teh madness) in the Netherlands.
But hell knows what actually happens.

And don't forget the high cost of petrol coupled with the constant congestion (near permanent on the M25) means even driving isn't exactly quick or cheap either. A journey from London to Birmingham can easily cost ?50 worth of petrol.

Not to mention 10 quid for an hour's parking in London in some places, and congestion charges... and just how damn much it costs to run a car anyway!!

Yeah totally.

Actually, I might come after all... heheh

Depends who else is going. I don't think I could stomach a whole night of talking about the cosmoverse in sesquepedalian fashion. Is it an INTP only gig, or can anyone come?

August's good for me, cos of school holidays I can leave the kids with their gran and use her house near London as a base.

I hope that I have not scared you all away from this thread.

Anyway how does the infrastructure look like in the UK. Me and my pal will probably travel by train through the country. And is it possible to travel by ferry to the netherlands from the uk? Or is there any other better alternatives?

And no I will not drink all your beer.

Have you decided a place yet?

If me and my intp pal gonna fly from Iceland we can come to London, Manchester or Glasgow.

London is best I would assume, though I could travel to Manchester (never been there before).

As for timing...
Seems everyone is busy - I suggest we leave it till after the summer now, really, unless anyone objects. I may well be in Northern France for a camping job for a couple of months anyway.

Anyway how does the infrastructure look like in the UK.
OK, but can be pricey.

And is it possible to travel by ferry to the netherlands from the uk? Or is there any other better alternatives? Yes, definitely (plenty of ferries going from the Hook of Holland to the east coast), though it may not be the cheapest mode of transport. If you're able to get to the Netherlands it is probably best trying to continue driving down to Calais to travel with the cheapest ferries over the straight of Kent.

Ah, hell , I might as well fly over and have them dump me off a puddle jumper (i have a friend who's a pilot, no two friends who are) right smack dab on Fe's doorstop. He can pay me nanny fees to keep him sober enough to go. Work hard, baby. Hey, your parents may see fit to hire me for a nanny for you, or a secretary/editor for your new books, and such. okay, fine. shut up.

Wow, great price.
Makes me think that they really should have a better/any regional commuter rail networks here in the US. I really fail to see the fascination with driving one's-self hundreds of miles in one go as much of a draw at all.

Kinda like praying to St. Christopher, "please give me a thousand yard stare for the entire day, lower back ache and a permanently seemingly full bladder"

I've eaten there - it's really not bad.

I was amused that people thought it was kitsch, though. Off the beaten track locals-only roadhouses in New Mexico look a lot like that place, although they're a lot smaller.

The only disappointment was that they don't server Shiner.

If I went by train - It would take 25 minutes to get to from my house to Oxford railway station by bus, then the train would take about an hour to London Paddington station (if it is fucking on time), plus 15 minutes from Paddington to Piccadilly Circus by tube and find wherever the hell the place we are meeting up at is.

If I went by coach - It would take about 25 minutes to Gloucester Green Coach Station from my house, about an hour and a half to london Victoria, plus 15 minutes to get from Victoria to Piccadilly Circus and to find where the hell we will be meeting up.

So in sort the journey would take about 2 hours, plus however long it takes me to get ready, and I can't be bothered to get up before 9 as I am lazy.:P

If I went by coach - It would take about 25 minutes to Gloucester Green Coach Station from my house, about an hour and a half to london Victoria, plus 15 minutes to get from Victoria to Piccadilly Circus and to find where the hell we will be meeting up.

So in sort the journey would take about 2 hours, plus however long it takes me to get ready, and I can't be bothered to get up before 9 as I am lazy.:P

oh don't be a little shit. get your ass to the meet up thing and you will have fun with the boys which you so need to do. little git

Bring her with you.

You are too good. And I'm jealous. Only reason I'm posting on this stupid thread, I'm jealous of not being there to meet you guys. Next time though. And yeah, I can find a way to 'qualify' if I must.

I am happy with a latish start but have to get a train at about 10.30pm.

Perhaps we could start the meetup at, say, 5pm and those who want to come later can if they wish.

Ferrus, djm what do you think?

Would not 3 be a better starting point if that is the plan?

OK, 3 pm.

And everyone else can turn up when they want.

Any advance on 3 pm?
