View Full Version : Minnesota / Midwest meet-up anyone?

Delilah
8 Nov 2007, 03:42 PM
So it seems there are quite a few of us up in this neck of the woods and it looks as though there has not been a meet up in some time, so I thought I would get the ball rolling, see if anyone is interested enough to actually get out of their houses for a night.

I have no time frame in mind, no ideas, no plans....yet.

But I recommend we do it at the Mall of America! :nono:

edit* (You can do multiple votes, since the Mall does suck)

Ok, here we go.

This Saturday, Old Chicago in Coon Rapids 5:00pm this Saturday.

That's right, in 2 days, just 4 of us confirmed so far, can still do a bigger one later.

Need directions? Let me know.

Oso Mocoso

ZOMG! There's really a place called Coon Rapids? I just googled it. That made me chuckle.

Well, it sounds swell, but unfortunately I've already made plans to be nerding out with some friends on Saturday with some tabletop RPG action. So unless those plans end up changing, this Saturday really doesn't work for me.

Also, Google and its maps have failed me. Where in Coon Rapids is Old Chicago?

Edit: Though in the unlikely situation that my plans do end up changing, I'll probably be there.*

*Assuming I can find directions to the place.**
**And assuming I don't get too lost***
***Which happens all too frequently in the few instances I drive in the cities.

Thus, by going to this restaurant, and getting a foamy cold one, it must be the case that I will be happy as well...

I'm a little curious to go and perhaps martoon would be as well. Did people decide on an actual place and time? I glanced over the thread, but didn't see specifics. Would it be easiest to add an "edit" with final info to the opening post so it would be easy to check in and see specifics? Just a thought.

Oh, and for the first time that night, I found out what people watching is really all about.

I could glance at a person, see why they were dancing, how they were dancing, who they were dancing for, what their mood was, etc... This all under the fading influence of alcohol. I had a massive smile on my face for the first couple of hours due to this.

Well my 21st bday was the 4th, and some have expressed interest in a party within the next few weekends. I am hoping for this weekend, so give your feed back if you think you want and can make it.

I am thinking about either around the Saint Cloud area or by Coon Rapids/Blaine etc, and it would be great if you mentioned which area works best for you. My idea is that we'd have a meet up at a bar, maybe dance too, and have some drinks and NT chats. Birthday gifts are appreciated, but not expected, since none of you know me that well personally.

The only friends I am thinking about inviting are an ENTP and three INTJs, but there's no guarantee any of them will make it.

I'll be moving to Minneapolis in early February and I'm up for anything since I'll be completely new to the area. Just say when.

Oh no, he's moving here!

But welcome to Minnesota, Lat, when you get here :). So what lead to your decision to move up here?

I HATE Florida, so that's what originally prompted my desire to move (about 18 months ago). I started researching cities so I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. During my research, it appeared that Minneapolis and Seattle had a lot more going for them than most cities, plus I thought my personality would fit in pretty well. I chose Minneapolis because it's a LOT cheaper than Seattle and it's within driving distance of St. Louis, which is where most of my family lives.

Ah, yes. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread to see the next time you all are going to meet up. I'm not in MN much during the week, but generally around on the weekends.

I'm new to this forum, but I'd likely show up.

If it's too awkward I'll just wander away!

You still have time to go West Coast! Do it! Seattle's all pretty right now, with blue skies and flowers. Seriously, midwest? It's probably still frozen over and barren. And people talk funny. I'm running out of stereotypes...

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to get back to you on this. I'm going to be doing a clinical drug trial in Madison in the next month, but I'm not sure on the dates yet.

Anyone in the Chicago area willing to put up with an encounter with me can PM me the details of when and where we might meet. I'd be fascinated to meet another INTP IRL, all the more so if they are on this forum.

I suppose could do the area group meet-up thing, but I must conform to the fact that I don't like/do well in groups -- even if it would be a group of INTPs, I imagine  Even so, I'm not an entirely asocial being.
