I don't know if anyone has posted this link before, but I didn't see it anywhere else. This site was set up by some social psychologists as part of their ongoing studies. It hosts a number of tests looking at morality, ethics, politics, and more. It was good food for thought. The main test, and the one they suggest taking first, is called the "Moral Foundations Questionnaire." It looks at how much value you place on five major issues, and then shows how you compare to overall liberal and conservative groups. Take a gander:
YourMorals (http://www.yourmorals.org/)
P.S.--Not to turn this into a technical discussion, but if anyone knows how to get the resulting graph to display in one of these posts, would you let me know? I'm very new to forums. Everything else has been quite straightforward, but I'm clearly missing something here. Thanks!
Edit: Thanks so much V Profane!
NB--POSTING YOUR RESULTS. I had no idea there would be such a problem with getting the graphs to show properly. As I know nothing about how this works myself, I'm going to refer you all to what matthew0028 and V Profane said, on the basis that it's better than any crap I could come up with. It sounds like direct linking to the website image results in a glitch where another person's results will show up in your post. You need to save the image and 'shack' it. Sorry. If I'd realized it would be such a hassle for folks, I wouldn't have posted the link.

Green denotes my results, blue liberals, and red conservatives, apparently.
(You can also View Image and direct-link it like I did, but that's unreliable and not recommended. It's just that my computer loads Imageshack at an excruciatingly slow rate...)
EDIT:
Apparently that doesn't display right. Oh well... [five minutes later] There. Imageshacked.

It's also generally viewed as bad etiquette (bandwidth leeching), and there's a lot of web masters that will embarrass you with a shock image or "Hey look at me I'm a dick" type message.

I took the four ethical/justifiable scenarios (doctors helping with executions, gay marriage certificates given against the law, pharmacists refusing to give out the "abortion" pill, and leaving the 10 commandments up in the Alabama statehouse).
I appreciated the scenarios chosen, they were good ones since you have to answer the same questions for all four... and it is possible to find inconsistencies in your thinking. But what the questions did not cover was the notion that it might be justifiable and ethical to defy the law in some situations... and it is also justifiable and ethical for one to be punished for defying the law.
(Because that's what's fair... if you want to take a stand, you also need to take the punishment.)
What do y'all think about that concept?

Well, Socrates would agree with you. I have to say I think it depends. For Socrates, his death meant something. As a figurehead his martyrdom could act to further his goals by painting those responsible in an ill light, even after he was gone.
Take, however, the following example:
A French man living during WWII is working for the Resistance as an expert codebreaker. He is captured, put in a camp, and sentenced to death with thousands of others. One night he has an unbelievable chance to escape. Should he:
1) Stay and die, unknown and unremarked upon, because that is the legal sentence imposed upon him by the governing party for crimes he knowingly committed.
2) Escape, (thus ignoring the legal system), rejoin the Resistance, and possibly play a key role in the fight against a group of people willfully committing genocide.
Keep in mind, as the winning side of the war there, Germany really did have official rule over the French per the treaties signed. Just something to think about.
P.S.--Can anyone tell me if things like this supposed to be moved to other areas of the forum? I'm quite new, and I'm just trying to figure out where the lines are drawn. Merci.

While it's a little hard to tell for sure what with some of the graphs still not showing up properly, it looks like the only consistencies so far are medium-to-high fairness and low authority levels. (Not that we have anything approaching a valid sample size here).
It makes sense to me that logic-loving INTPs would be more concerned with an abstract--and potentially more consistent--concept of equality than with the rules of an ever-shifting set of human authorities. Thoughts?

I already knew my morality was based on fairness. If everything was fair, then there wouldn't be any crime. But life mostly isn't fair. A rich guy's kid is born and inherits a 100 million dollars. An African kid is born and inherits an empty stomach.
Let me ask you something. Would you steal a million dollars from Bill Gates if you could get away with it?
I'd do it and I'd have a clear conscience and pleasant dreams every night. Even though he's not a bad man, he does not deserve all that money.

Merged threads.
Edit: I messed up the results last time I did it a couple of years back.

Mmm, speeding is a crime, but that has nothing to do with fairness.
I'd steal from gatesy 'cause he'd hardly even notice 0.000005% of his money gone. :gm:
My result (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v654/greenCHEESEsticks/myscoresaregreenlibblueconsred-1.png) reflects my views on morality reliably. I think the aversion of harm coupled with a desire for fairness is the basis of all morality, while the aspects of loyalty/authority/purity have a "guilt by association" thing going on. Sometimes, not always, breach of loyalty, authority or purity could result in harm or injustice - that's why it's tainted by association.
So harm and injustice is always immoral.
Breach of authority, purity, or loyalty is not always immoral.

That test was horrible.

Good vs bad WTF kinda question is that and how I went through the trouble. The red vs. blue bars don't make that much sense either.

Loyalty authority and purity are low on mine but my fairness is high on the ones I took and the harm one is about average.
