Hey I started playing Neverwinter Nights the other day and it reminded me of my D&D days, h boy do I miss role playing. I was wondering if anyone wanted to like either play on Neverwinter Nights with me and DM our own game, or if anyone lives near here we could like have a D&D game or somethin.
I know it's really nerdy and stuff but I really like it. Fantasy is so much more exciting to me than reality for some reason

I've always loved it too. Oh well, to far!

Next to there.
I played the first two parts of NWN a long time ago... and I do DND fairly regularly, when I can find the time.

I love NWN, have only played the OC and expansions though. It would be great to play a real multiplayer game with a DM, some day in the completely unforeseeable future when I have more computer time and space.
How about a D&D personality test to hold me over: what race, class and alignment do you people prefer? :)

I was thinking about making one of those!
I'm probably a ranger, and my second choice would be rogue. the only thing about the rogue is their artfulness and lack of physical strength, which I have. the other day I went through the woods with my friends and made my own paths and such, and found my way out after getting lost. That made up my mind that I was a ranger :D Race I choose human because elves seem more F'ish to me, orcs too uneducated, an dwarves the same. Gnome seemed to match pretty well though, but not quite. Alignment for me is ALWAYS Chaotic good. I do what's right to me, and I follow my own ethics or good and bad. Like it says on the description, chaotic good is independent of standards and set laws, but is good in his/her own way.
Man I love this lol.
Jim, I live in South Jersey, idk if anyone else does though. And also, deepsky, if you want (and if you get the time/space) we can try to DM a game. Anyone else?

In third ed. I can never ever stick to one class, it just doesn't feel right.
So I like human or half-elf for versatility, alignment...depends on how the role I'd like to play. I basically enjoy playing everything that isn't lawful. True Neutral may be my favorite for role playing. If I am supposed to transpose my actual self on to it...well that would be very difficult. I definitely shift between chaotic good, neutral good, true neutral, and chaotic neutral.
Preferred classes: Bard, Wizard (then multiclass). My favorite character I've played thus far is Barbarian/Bard...imagine a battle skald from beowulf or something similar.

I could endlessly write about how I can relate to some classes and some races, and indeed I do favor neutral good wizard, lawful neutral cleric, chaotic neutral bard and chaotic evil sorcerer.
But, I always did best with human neutral evil rogue with no additional classes or prestige classes. I would have slaughtered dragons and whole parties and outwitted wizards (with different DMs). I actually became famous about being unable to roleplay anything except that, but the best roleplayer in town (again, it isn't a big town). They tried to force me to play lawful good paladin. Oh jesus, I wouldn't want to go through that again.
What does that say about me? :)

I love this--I'm not sure what, if anything it says about us but it's fun.
I am the most at home as a half-elven ranger, chaotic neutral, but when I need a break I think it's hilarious to play an evil female half-orc barbarian, and slaughter anyone who makes fun of her intelligence. Gnome sorcerers are also fun but just too hard to keep alive.

Rogue seems the closest to me... but monks and fighters are right up there. I miss my skill points when playing those, though... rogue fighter seems to work pretty well, with a high dex and lighter armor... feats and sneak attack... I pretty much always play human. No drawbacks, and quite nice bonuses. I like playing other nonstandard races sometimes, though... ever looked at trying a thri-kreen monk? Four arms plus monk attack damage and rate... wicked. Oh, and +30 to jump off the bat. Boing.
Alignment... usually lawful neutral when playing a monk... anything else I stay neutral or one step off.
Jersey... nope, midwestish. Missouri, misery.

Speaking of forcing to play a character... we had this one bastard who kept complaining and switching characters... complaining that he wasn't broken enough or something... so we forced him to play a gay pixie bard. He left. It was kinda designed to do that, but it was funny as hell at the time.

Only reason I don't play monk is because i don't wanna have to play any lawful characters. I'll probably be chaotic everytime, if not chaotic good, then chaotic neutral, but never evil, except maybe neutral evil, MAYBE.

Yep, count me in, I played a fair bit of NWN online (Neversummer was quite good at times) as well as the OC. I wouldnt mind getting back to some real stuff though. That would be fun with you guys, sure. I am in the UK so the time difference would be a challenge.
NWN is a good engine, but you probably need to download other people's adventures unless you are very very patient. or something like IRC to just do it in text.
I quite like to play something fun like a gnome illusionist. Alignment? Probably chaotic good or neutral.
