Would you buy a house in Poland? Some people just don't understand irony.

Brilliant, I'm glad we've got that all cleared up then. And to think we were angry about it. Ha.

But seriously, He's right about Poland. Thats why there all coming to England.

I didn't read it so have no opinion on the piece, but wtf does that prove? There are people who act as mouthpeices for hatred of their "own" ethnic group.

Okay DS, it was pretty ironic that he disclaimed his post so no one would jump on his ass, and then you immediately jumped on his ass for it. However, it wasn't nearly so ironic as the invasion of Belgium. Maybe next time you should up the ante.

It's a former SS officer saying that Germany only invaded Belgium and Poland to be ironic. "Why would we invade Belgium, the most boring country in the world?"

The addendum about my own ancestry was merely a preemption against any accusations of insensitivity given the nature of the subject. It "proves" nothing.

I'm just saying, I'm not interested in the link, just that you can be insensitive about something which affected your own ancestors or even yourself. Jews have joined Nazi organisations in the past. I've known of black people on BNP marches in Britain.

Just saying, that's all.

Well, thank you. Thanks for jumping all over poor Roger for basically no good reason. Thanks for not being able to appreciate a good joke. Just like an Englishman, really. Someone goes and invades Poland and you all completely miss the humor in it, and freak the fuck out.

Maybe you should check out the link. Watch and learn.

I just didn't see what was that funny about the joke of it being all out of irony. Not in the sense that I find it offensive or anything, it's just not that funny to me. My 2 cents.

Feel free to jump on me if you think this is ridiculously far-fetched, but I rather thought that the video was trying to make fun of people who defended the actions of Nazi Germany? Something along those lines?

"flames" and "trolling", oh no! Did I violate the internet code of conduct? I just felt like pointing out something that I noticed, it's not a big deal. I even went out of my way to say "I'm just saying" and appear as unaggressive as I could, but to no avail apparently.

I was thinking more along the lines of what fripping said, about people who try to get away with stuff just by saying that they were trying to be funny/ironic/sarcastic/whatever.

Nah, it's not like you violated the code of conduct, and thus be summarily executed for your transgressions. If that were the case, you'd already be dead. You just provided nothing of any possible interest to the discussion. You were being a pedantic asshole. You're capable of much better. Please, try harder.

Hmm I dunno I wasn't like all offended or anything, but it just wasn't funny. Also, Belgium produced Jacques Brel and ApeTheDog. So I don't see how this country could be that boring. :D

Heh, well you have to admit it's kinda ironic that you're just 1/16th German Jewish - I can barely do the math to figure out which ancestor that might've been! Thought you were making a joke at first.

Posting flames on a thread that only exists to discuss something you aren't even interested in viewing comes close to trolling.

It really doesn't make much of a difference when a thread about nazi jokes could easily be considered... baiting! ;)

You were being a pedantic asshole.

That's a little over the top - this was hardly a serious thread to begin with, not to mention it would fit much better under random youtube videos, links, the playground or even purgatory.

Well, that's good. I don't know if I'd have it in me to keep up my end of an honest to goodness flame war. Maybe we could do a spirited exchange of humorous jabs, or an ironic flame war?

Okay, and I'll admit I knew who Ape was, but not the other guy. Isn't it a running joke that being from Belgium is a major handicap to becoming famous?

From wikipedia on "People from Belgium"

There is an informal British parlour game, semi-jocular, which challenges the participants to come up with the names of five famous Belgians, implicitly asserting that Belgian nationals are far less likely to be notable in the United Kingdom than those of other countries. Fictional characters may or may not be allowed. Fame may be established according to arbitrary criteria such as how many other players have heard of the person or their notable achievement.

He's great.

Oh yeah and Ape said this:

Watch these videos, you cultureless fucks, and understand them...

This will be good for you. If you don't understand why this is genius, then there is no hope for you left, and you're destined to live your life already dead, just not yet knowing you are.

the irony of WWII is Germany kicking out all the physicists and scientists who went to the USA and built the rockets and bombs that helped win WWII.

and the writers and musical composers coming over to waste their talents on Hollywood scripts and soundtracks.

What the hell is "Belgium?"

Oso Mocoso
4 Dec 2007, 03:57 AM
What the hell is "Belgium?"

It's a unit of measure that Europeans utilize to describe how large foreign countries are. For example, India is something like 20 or so Belgiums. The United States is about 45 or so Belgiums. In a non-geographic sense, the Belgium can also be used as a standard of how exciting something is. Watching paint dry is around 2 standard Belgiums. Riding a roller-coaster is about 14 Belgiums, and having sex with a Brazilian bikini-model is roughly 200 Belgiums.

Oh shit, I hope I never have to run for public office in the EU.

I find it funny how all the Youtube responders are offended. Then there's always somebody "my grandma three-times removed's cousin was in a concentration camp I think, I'm offended." Usually the same people who go on about calling Israel a terrorist state.

Don't listen to her. She doesn't really speak German. I've watched World War 2 movies from Hollywood and listened to Einsteurzende Neubauten records. This is the real deal. A comedy club from Amsterdam wouldn't dare forge important historic documents like this.

Didn't you all realize that most of the unseen Nazi masterminds were really bored INTPs who felt that the global scene could do with a bit of the shake-up. Also it's believed by certain historical authorities that it all started when one of these INTPs heard someone had said that Man would never see a war quite like the Great War.
