As I'm writing this, Geoff is 4 posts away from 1,000! ...and songbird doesn't even have a name yet!! edit: (or wait...*looks at songbird's naming thread* maybe she does)
anyways....Geoff's name:
songbird36
25 Feb 2005, 12:40 AM
Geoff has asked me to choose his name.
Diplomacy must feature in there. His other interests are cooking, photography, and travel.
He's a pretty well balanced kinda guy...dammit.

It should be "qui cherche" in songbird's post anyway. Et je sais bien que je ne suis pas très gentille, mais je m'en ai appris de toi. ;)

If you think I am going to be named in French...
S'encule Monsieurs et Madames Les Grenouilles!!
*Bzzt* Let's start again.
Seeing as we dont seem to be getting anywhere, here, let's see if I can clarify - no I am not especially enamoured of cheese, although I do like good food generally. Photography is my main hobby. I absolutely love travel. I am British, try and work that in, my favourite quotes are probably from Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett or Blackadder (all British). I am heavily sarcastic, but I seem to have restrained that too much.. up to date. It's quite amusing when I have strongly held opinions but because I am not stubborn and bloody minded and actually listen to what people have to say that gets recognised on here as being boring and tame.
So, fuck you all!
(Doing well, arent we)

I think Zedo might have done it as fast.
I have a weird question, this might not be the place...I have Geoff at 962 posts. Is mine lower than other peoples, because it seems to be judging by the posts.

CC may have been the fastest.

25 Feb 2005, 08:31 PM
No, it's 962 for me too.
I think CC hit 1000 faster than Zedo. Atleast she had higher posts / day average, so it should have been faster. Unless Zedo decreased or CC increased after hitting the mark.
Of course, you could always check the registration dates and the dates of the naming threads if you really are that interested.
Edit: crosspost with cjs55. Great minds think alike.

I think CC was hovering around 17 0r 18 and then just shot up to 25 by posting emoticons over and over. Plus, her naming thread added a ton of posts.
In fact, we should start moving these goddamned naming threads into the playground so no one gets more posts for trying to figure out their name, or saying no for 50 posts.

CC joined 12-26-04 and reached 1000 posts at 2-15-05 Thats 51 days.
Geof joined 01-12-05 and is presently holding 964? Today is 02-52-05 That's 44 days. If he'll hurry up, silly and post his usual 20 per day. He WILL make a record.

Yeah! It seems that his posts are going up at all? He has either totally stopped posting, or... I just said yesterday? that if he posts his normal 20 posts per day he would reach 1000. I am going to go find that post. Just a sec...

Well, funnily enough I do spend some of each day at work and dont normally post. You know, I do try and do a days work...
And what happened to the name ideas. Fascinating though my 1000 post speed might turn out to be.
Wheel out your knightly suggestions, tweaked for pratchett, adams or blackadder.
Sir Geoff the <<insert name???>> works..
And I love the Wowbagger quote, stroke of genius. Particularly as Wowbagger in HHGTG endlessly insults people. Its a neat twist.
Some more ideas first though please.
Oh and CC... are you upset about quality or quantity?

Wowbagger the infinitely prolonged is a being in the hitchhikers guide books who is cursed with immortality. Because he therefore has no purpose in his endless life he decided he is going to insult every living being in the universe one by one in alphabetical order.
Which is why Wowbagger the infinitely polite was a cute reversal - a wordplay Douglas would have enjoyed had he still been with us (may he be on a higher plane, saying "Oh no not again" somewhere).

Razzing, sure... but I was very slighty miffed that I got named after my "one big contribution"... as if it was all that I'd ever done on here... it's not even that big a part of the forum for me.

the use of accents or the use of your keyboard? ;P
I don't know which type of keyboard you use, but I'm using AZERTY, which has é, è, ç, à, ... standard on it. Don't know about QUERTY though?
as far as using them in French is concerned, some of them are easy because they indicate how to pronounce a word, but others you just have to learn by heart.. took me 8 years and I still forget loads of them.

About keyboards - no, annoyingly, not all keyboards have the accents built in accents :banghead: - lol
My keyboard is entirely British, it has a £ and no accents at all. Et voilá.
Its quite easy when you know the control/shift key combinations. I do this a lot because I have a big client with a French parent company, and dont wish to be rude to the people their by turning an é into an e unnecessarily.

Yeah, well, Shai Gar finally gleened his 1000 posts by squandering posts on your naming thread. Hijacking I guess. I like Sir Gabalot. It sounds a bit like Sir Lancelot but it really seems to fit.....he has all kinds of intput that isn't too controversial, it just adds to the mix. Of course I'm biased, because its MY suggestion.

Ok, so what do we have
Wowbagger the Infinitely Polite
Sir Gabalot
Sir Rogerlot
Sir Frumious Bandersnatch
Sir Geoff Wowbagger, the Infinitely Polite
Sir Geoff, Infinitely Polite Wowbagger of the Realm
Sir Geoffrey Megapixel of the accountancy firm
Sir Geoffrey of the cunning plans
Eminently Reasonable Mediator
The Amiable Atheist!
Guadalupe Rainbow
La photographique fromage de diplomat
Wowbagger the Infinitely Polite
Splendidly polite knight of the realm
Sir Geoffrey Megapixel of the accountancy firm
Sir Geoffrey of the cunning plans
The Refined Wowbagger, Sir Geoff of Lore
The Chivalrous Most Noble Wowbagger, Sir Geoff of Feudal Lore.
The Chivalrous Noblist Wowbagger, Sir Geoff of Feudality.
Anymore suggestions anyone? How about a photography angle (Pratchett has the Twoflower character, remember).
I like 1, 4 and 6.
I actually quite like the last two but they are a bit wordy.

Wowbagger the Infinitely Polite has a flow to it that the others do not.
(In my humble opinion)
