I can't decide. I guess mostly Ne, and Si, for nostalgia, and imagination. I like to create a story from music I hear, so I like music that makes for good stories.

Feel free to mention genres you like.

http://www.intp.org/intprofile.html has something about music and the functions.

I listen to a variety of music. I like metal, rock, some times pop, but once in a while though. I love the dropkick murphys! They are awesome.

Music is 90% emotion, 10% talent.

So F, in whatever form it is.

I can run scales and theory and all that techie bs all day, but what's gonna get me to want to replay those things is pure, unadulterated emotional attatchment. At least that's how I portray my own music to myself.

Otherwise, mood determines what I listen to, and we know that's typical. It's still F.

Lol, the only one that got knocked off: Fe, but also Se

In private I might use popular music to get in touch with my shadow side (shadow descriptors include: sensual, sensuous, manipulative, depressive, obnoxiously narcissistic, and mercurially expressive - all that fun stuff that others would be surprised to know I have in me).

Music that I perform is a different story; that's more Ti with N and F, with more of an acceptable "me" range of personality.

I like almost anything really. I can't stand techno though, must have something to do with my classical music education. Oh and opera, I don't like opera. Otherwise, jazz, pop, folk, classical, rock, bring it on.
Exception to my anti-opera statement, the Barcarolle by Offenbach is pure magic!

I like all genres of music to a certain degree, but love rock. I play drums (a bit) and bass guitar, so I find that music that have a strong sense of rhythm and groove excites me. But music that evokes emotion, whether good or bad, and music that can transport you another place -so to speak- is essential for me.

Definitely Fe. And I like nearly every genre of music there is, from techno to bluegrass.

Hmmm...I tend to like the work of artists like Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Peter Gabriel, etc.... Attempting to figure out which of the eight cognitive functions as described by Linda Berens here (http://www.16typesuniversity.com/cognitiveprocesses.html) are most active in my enjoyment of them, but as the Ti, Fi notation is a bit new to me, I can't say whether that totally describes what's going on in the experience.

Sometimes I think that I'm a bit INTJ-ish in that the present is already in the past to me, although there are other aspects of myself that are distinctly INTP-ish. I score consistently as an INTP on the Jung type test, but the P tends to be somewhat variable on other tests.

Deep...the music has to be of my fancy and the lyrics have to feel right.

But most of the time I am swayed by good music, definitely feeling, I think that without music I would die...I generally like rock more, acoustic but also heavy rock, it depends.
Japanese Pop and Rock tends to be one of my favs too.

Some combination of Fi and Se looks most likely from here. I'll pay as much attention to the way my speakers cause the top of the desk to vibrate as to the music itself.

Lots of different music, but mostly dark dreadful and loud.
Acid Bath is my favorite band. (no longer in existence)
Tool is my second.

It all depends on what mood I'd like to evoke.

I like metal and rock. Sometimes I would listen to Enya but that normally puts me to sleep because it is so peaceful.

I like stuff like Metal and Rock, mostly to match my sarcastic, cynical and sometimes angsty emotional makeup.
