If I believed that "THE GOVERNMENT COULD BE CHANGED TO FIX EVERYTHING WRONG IN SOCIETY/THE WORLD", I would be dead-set on a revolution towards that goal. I would start a thread entitled "We need to pull the plug on capitalism" in spite of all the "alleged" cons, because I would believe that such a utopia is not impossible. If you showed me any given person from any of those categories that believed either: A. We live under a government that has fixed everything wrong in society/the world, and therefore we should just sit back and relax, or B. That everything they viewed to be wrong everywhere could be permanently changed by some change in gov't and therefore was in the act of changing it or proposing some way to change it , yes I would call those people commies.

The ( horrible and depraved ) goals of Communism --- of any type --- are universal equality and democracy. In practice, during the transition periods --- from feudalism>capitalism to socialism to communism --- the amount of democratic decision-making allowed to the participants, although it exists to pretty much the same amount as in any other society in the civilised world, has to be rationed in proportion to where it might deviate from the goals.

In say, 1950, a Russian had the same chance of having his/her voice heard sympathetically and the changes implemented that he/she wanted in opposition to the establishment as did an American or a Briton. Even today no disaffection against the present liberal establishment and it's ideals is effectually allowed: they just added bullets to emphasise the point.

Also it was democratic enough to be genuinely popular amongst the people it ruled. Note the hankering for the old days, including Stalin, amongst the older folk in the Russias, and how they now support Putin.

Not that the fact they want it is a good reason for giving anything to people anyway. Otherwise one might as well be a democrat.
