The fact is, the Democratic Party today is no longer the party of FDR The libertarian party has NEVER been the party of FDR.

God damnit Mike.

Oh well. I should still get his little book at some point.

Yeah, I'm not sure what he's thinking. From what I know of his beliefs, I don't think the libertarian party fits his views very well.

Indeed. If he reveres FDR so much, he's a collectivist, which is pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Seems like a bit of a punt to me--Mike wanted to stay in the race, but won't go anywhere farther with the Democrats; the Greens (his best fit IMO) are too far along in their nomination process; he can't afford an independent run. Where else is there to go?

The move does seem to be drawing some support from the economic right, but it seems like for everyone of them he gains, he looses a former supporter who can't stand the thought of Mike being involved with the libertarian party.

I suppose since the libertarian party is pretty small, if Mike draws in enough supporters they could overrun the party and change it from a free market/right-libertarian party into a left-libertarian or "libertarian socialist" party. But I don't really see that happening...
