This guy does some really cool research and is one of a few researchers who are trying to correlate brain structure with different DSM-IV diagnosis. Its interesting that psychiatry seems to be the only subspecialization of medicine that doesn't look at the organ that they treat(true most of the time until recently.. but for the most part they don't seem to ...even now).

Finished taking the little test and found out what I already knew, I am the ADD Inattentive type... If there were an extreme for this type it would be me... Does the site go into the DSMV-IV correlations? That would be interesting. I don't understand why nobody ever tried to see these correlations before?

I got a highly probable for 4 of the brain types these being

limbic system Hyperactivity
temporal lobe syndrome - yay for the spaciness , confusion and memory problems
Basal Ganglia Hyperactivity - Not suprised as I have high anxiety levels
ADD Inattentive Type

I don't think I have all these types though, I mean I can't be THAT crazy 8O

I'm "highly probable" for ADD inattentive, too.

Thanks for that link, I have passed it on to a couple of family members and friends who work with ADD kids.
Personally, as I work in Nutrition I find that section very useful.

Highly Probable:
ADD Inattentive Type
Limbic System Hyperactivity
Basal Ganglia Hyperactivity

The diet tips seem like a good place to start -- I don't know what I haven't yet, but I'll be looking into it now.

Nothing worse than "Maybe possible" (for ADD inattentive and Limbic System Hyperactivity).
I'm glad at least some tests tell me I'm normal.

so what is those cingulate and limbic, im totaly unfamiliar with these words, are they parts of the brain? do they play a big part in any DSM-IV disorder?

i dont fully understand what is being said

Probable ADD Inattentive. Mild if anything, and more of a weakness than a defect for most here, I'm sure.

EDIT: I took some time to do the test again. Here are the new results:

The results make sense.

Limbic System Hyperactivity is associated with manic-depression, which I was diagnosed with in 2000. Now I'm interested in the effects of my mood stabalizers on the limbic system, specifically.

Temporal Lobe System...since I've taken anti-psychotics for hallucinations, I think it's highly probable. The ADD...been diagnosed with that too.

Very interesting study. Thank you.

In order of accurate description. ADD Inattentive definitely fits me the most of the three.

I find it strange that most of us are ADD Inattentive Type. I only saw one other person with ADD Combined Type - Probable. I'm not sure what it means exactly because the info given on each was so similar. However, unlike it suggests, stimulants do not "turn on the frontal lobes and prevent brain shutdown" for me; instead, simulants such as decongestants (for frequent headaches I get) cause me to relax and become somewhat lethargic.

Sounds about right, especially the Basal Ganglia Hyperactivity. I like that they give you nutritional tips. I knew I felt better when I got more protein.

We may mostly have ADD Inattentive in common, but we all sure seem to find unique ways to post the results into the forum.

Without digging through all of these threads, have people been posting results to these tests yet?

I took the fake smiles test just now and got 17 out of 20 right! It said most people are bad at distinguishing between the two. Then again, "I'm not most people". (I didnt even know what to look for, exactly, although I once heard it's about the eyes)

I found a forum for people with ADD. They were so kind to type themselves and there seem to be a lot of INTP's and INFP's (40% of the people that took the test).
