While I may look really dumb here, A) for just being really dumb or B ) missing some tool to avoid it. I am curoius does anyone else lose track of slow moving threads, only later to want to add something and have no idea where it was? I have caught myself disjointing conversations due to my poor sense of forum direction. (semi-O/T,I have great direction IRL)

I just check all the posts I made the last day in my profile and then open them all in a separate firebird tab to see if there's been responses that require my attention to them.

Hmm. A cool trick would be if you could mark a thread as 'interesting', and the forum would somehow remember this. These threads would then all show up in a personal forum of your own. I.e. every user would have one additional forum on the index with their name on it, that contained all the threads they were interested in.

You could add threads, and delete them, out of this forum at goodwill. Hmm... I'll propose this I think.

I like the profile idea.

I think the high "burial" rate is a factor too. In busy sections it only takes a couple days or less for a "new" thread to get pushed off the first page.

I think that perhaps some popular sections need to be subdivided. So the threads don't move around at quite such a fast rate. There is probably a numerical formula for calculating at what rate of new thread creation a section should be subdivided....
