Has anyone heard of this show? Basically it's about

a graduate of Brown University [with a philosophy major] who's opted not to put her education to work, and instead lives in a trailer and works at a tourist shop in Niagara Falls, to the consternation of her affluent, successful family. All seems to be going well for this self-proclaimed slacker, until one day a small toy lion speaks to her in enigmatic epigrams, commanding her to help people. Loath to deal in any compassionate way with the rest of humanity, Jaye warily obeys, if only to make the voices stop. Soon, though, she finds herself to be an unwilling humanitarian and accidental hero when more inanimate objects start talking to her, and more people turn out to need her help.

For those of you who know about the series, what do you think the type of main character, Jaye, is (as well as the types of the rest of the characters)? I only saw the first four episodes and have yet to purchase the DVD set to watch the rest of the first (and only) season, but from what I've gathered so far, she strikes me as being IxTP. Does anyone agree, or am I way off?

Pretty good show, but I didn't see enough to make a guess at MBTI type.

After watching the series, which I thought was excellent, I came to the conclusion that Jaye is a classic INFP. Her brother is probably an Artisan and her sister a Guardian. I haven't thought through the rest.

She keeps a small group of friends, and is reluctant to let new people close to her. As an Idealist, she is in search of her identity (rather than intelligence, structure, or adventure). Although she is smart and educated, she resists becoming part of the cookie cutter corporate culture.

One might say she is a “thinker” style, as she seems to hide her emotions well. But that is just one of the things this personality type does. INFPs often hide their emotions and personal desires because they feel it is selfish and weak. She uses witty comments and sarcastic humor as a way to redirect this energy, as well as a way of deflecting confrontation. Lurking inside though is a palette of emotions.

As an identity style person, she finds watching and analyzing other people interesting. Although, she’d rather them not get too close, lest they become her responsibility. This brings up an interesting irony. Although as an INFP she often finds herself helping people, this does tax the shoulders of someone with an idealistic view of the world. After all, she is still trying to figure out her own identity. How can she be there for others when she hasn’t perfected herself?

Now for the interesting connection to the theme of the show... INFPs are highly imaginative people who’s intuitive nature often has them doing things that defy logic and their own personal desires. The show basically takes this into character by having the animals portray the “sixth sense”, driving her to do things that don’t make sense until later, and often with only a vague hint as to what she needs to do, but leading to important life lessons that help her shape her own identity.

Maybe I'll pick up the DVDs some day and watch them all.
