View Full Version : What do you think caused furies?
From a non-scientific, completely arbitrary, 2nd bottle of wine, here is my list:
Rats of Nimh
American Tail
Beauty and the Beast (Tv Show)
Beauty and the Beast (Disney)
Disney's Robin Hood
The Fox and the Hound
Thundercats
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

From a non-scientific, completely arbitrary, 2nd bottle of wine, here is my list: TMNT are at best on the fringe of furry. WB cartoons are farther away -- too stylized, and they're trying too hard to be human.
I have a DVD of Kaze, Ghost Warrior (http://ghostwarrior.com) which while not very good technically (lighting in particular is horrible) is a short movie right at the heart of furry.
Many webcomics are furry, having been derived in part from the author's experiences role-playing as a furrae in the graphical-MUD 'furcadia'.
As to why the world has them? why not?!?

Aren't these more effects then causes though? I'm not judging, just trying to create a logical path.

telnet-based MUDs are older then webcomics, yes. People are furry, thus so are their comics.

If I remember correctly furries (extra r) are people who feel attracted to humanoid animals. Nor real animals but rather people dressed up like them.
For example one person dressed up like a fox and another like a griffen might go out to a furrie convention, get drunk and have wild passionate might I even say animalistic sex.
Although to be honest when I saw the title of the post I thought he meant furies from Greek and Roman mythology.
And Thundercats probably played some role in it

The amateur psychologist in me think it's some kind of apologetic behavior for wanting to have sex.
"Yes. YES. Yes, I'm having sex, goddammit. But LOOK at me! I'm dressed up as a giant fucking panda okay, so get off my back".
Of course, they may also just all be really ugly and unable to score without the fuzzsuit on.

Mr Colossus must have been expecting some friends. The title baffled me also.
As to the intended question, I think that the thundercats may have been an influence, but a large amount of the work of Don Bluth (Nimh, American tail etc.) may have been more central.

wow that is cool (only cause I find the perverse novel) how it is remotely erotic TOTALLY escapes me. I would be curious to try it, but I am sure I would be on the floor laughing long before I, even figured out how to go about it insuch an outfit!

I think the whole suit thing only makes up a fraction of the whole furry sub-culture, or whatever.
Just as long as it isn't zoophile stuff, I'm not fazed.

So are these "furries" basically just people who like bestiality but won't actually go as far as screwing an animal? I remember seeing this porn where a guy in a gorilla suit has sex with a woman. Is that furry porn?

That could very well be the case

Its more like sex with disney-esque anthropormorphized animals. Thus most of the furry porn is drawings or text (to my knowledge). I have no idea how furries would act out their fantasies in real life...

Its more like sex with disney-esque anthropormorphized animals. Thus most of the furry porn is drawings or text (to my knowledge). First, Furfandom is much bigger than pr0n. Second, now that we've moved past the age of the gopher protocol, we can see there is as much drawn porn as written. Have yourself a look at vclart.net ... and to prove there is a non
pr0n component to furrydom, I'd suggest the SCFA (Squeaky Clean Furry Archives) but it's down, and what's left of it went to yerf (http://www.yerf.com) which is also down :-P but if you do some googling for art, you might find stuff like this (http://metalandmagic.com). Lots of furs out there.
But, I've found that if you aren't already a fur (you'd know because you thought gadget, of the Rescue rangers, was really hot and had always fanatasized about consoling Mrs Brisby on the loss of her husband...uh...why are you all looking at me funny?)...if you're not a fur, you don't get it. Seems to be formed early in life, this fandom.
I have no idea how furries would act out their fantasies in real life... With fursuits. Which are hot, sticky, uncomfortable things that don't usually resemble closely the animal the wearer is implying. Until genetic manipulation progresses far beyond it's current limits, that'll be the extent of furry fanboy's sex acts.
At that time, mail-order brides will include entries for foxettes and wolf bitches.
mwahahaha!!

I've gone to exactly one fur-con, and can tell you there were about 10 non-suiters to every fursuit. I'm discounting the one who wear ears, or tail, or the guy who managed a set of hooves (complete with shoes! clankety-clankety! Really cool!). Since this was a con, to show off their skills, the general population of furrydom is probably wider -- 15:1?
Likewise the zoophilia. Since both involve animals, there is an amount of overlap. But the zoos don't trust anything human -- too easy to get hurt. The furrae want to take the lust of their day out for a date before getting all hot & sticky...most labradors, while smart, can't comment on many headlines. And don't sip coffee either.
Me? I'm waiting for my mare (http://www.unicorn.furtopia.org/display.php?id=savaaha) to show up for a date :)

Ka.avik you perv!
Just kidding. Whatever floats your boat.
I wonder if this is a modern phenomenon, or if people have always dressed in animal skins and had sex. Is it more widespread now? Why?
ApeTheDog

Well I'd imagine it would be very much a modern phenomenon because animal cartoons didn't exist say 200 years ago. As ka.avik said, the attraction mainly comes from seeing sexy cartoon animals, nor from the thought of having it off with a real animal. All the furry porn I've seen seems to agree with this, as they all try and emulate as closely as possible cartoon animals, and never aim for realism.
It seems to be growing at a frightening exponent. Read this: http://www.statelovesyou.com/wiki/?Furry+World

Having only read of it, I can still say with authority those were not furries. Wacked out fursuiters, maybe...more likely zoo+fursuiters with a chip on their shoulder.
Zoophilic furstuiters are not an accepted part of the fandom. And believe me, we've some pretty accepting members -- but there are lines, and that's on the far side of one of 'em.

Zoophilia didn't enter into it, other than as people in suits... but they were pretty out there. What was funny was that the whole thing was just a bad relationship and a mistake in the dark...
so you've never thought about what sex with an actual horse would feel like? seriously?
I have... just now.
Probably hurt like a bitch, because they're literally hung like a horse, or if you tried the other way, likely to get kicked.

so you've never thought about what sex with an actual horse would feel like? seriously? As Jimkopelli referenced, there's quite a size difference, even accounting for proportianality -- being a horse person, I happen to know that a TB stallion will erhm... "grow" to about 6"x3' -- width is close to proportional, but length? Just about to their sternum -- nearly a foot for us humies.
Given that my mare would be built to accept such, she'd probably be pretty sloppy. Very much the opposite of "tight". But, since they're all bone & mucle, you can pretty much grip/thrust as hard as you want, and you'll never bruise her. But, with that long neck, you wouldn't be able to french kiss while inside her. Well, not if she arched her neck in pleasure....
Or did you mean a 4-legged horse? I suppose, either way, you'd want to take a vacuum to your bed, rather than a mop & bucket...hair is cool.

Sex on a horse, on the other hand, might be interesting.
Might also be painful.
(checklist... special saddle, horse strong enough for two, someone willing to try... pasture to get a good canter, but secluded...)

(checklist... special saddle, horse strong enough for two, someone willing to try... pasture to get a good canter, but secluded...) Have you ever ridden? Horses who can carry two aren't hard to find. But, riders who can hump while riding would probably take years to learn. At a walk wouldn't be so bad, but cantering is real work -- and requires precise balance.
The horse people make fun of images like yours every so often...because it's so unrealistic. No offence, just...not gonna happen.
edit: ummm....not like this (http://metalandmagic.com/Pages/Galleries/Anthro/wolfsheep.html) is going to be seen anytime soon...but, I know something about horseback riding, and have never dated a sheep. Let me know if your pet pygmy goats start to talk though. And sips coffee with you ;-)

I don't know jack about riding (like the difference between a canter and a walk... but I do know that horses are strong enough to carry two, I just felt like mentioning that.)... laugh all you want.
But then, there's Clarke's Law... "If you want to do something groundbreaking, listen to what the experts say you can't do. Then do it."
If my pet pygmy goat starts talking, I'm gonna get off the shrooms... because for one, I don't have/want/need a goat, much less a talking one.
