...you do have it on your arm or you are just planning to get it.

My favourite watch, which I have is a DB-34H-1V CASIO (number1600)

This is my watch. I would never spend that kind of money on a watch, I got it from a girlfriend (long story). Although, the face hasn't gotten a single scratch on it and the band hasn't broken which is practically a miracle.

I have that same that same kind of watch, mgbradsh. Mine was a gift too. The face is a nice blue and the crystal doesn't have a single scratch on it. I've had it for years. And I love that it glows in the dark all night. The middle row of links aren't shiny anymore, but I don't care. The only complaint I have is that the that outside ring that you turn in order to time things is really loose now, and I don't trust it to stay in one place on its own.

I think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

Here's mine:

Nice, mine is just over two years old so I'll stop playing with the dial. :)

I worked in a barn for the past ten months. I'm wondering if there's a lot of dirt and junk in there which made it get loose.

I could see it catching on stuff, but as far as the mechanism goes, it should be pretty air tight for those 200m dives.

The thing I like about watches are variety in faces. I guess I have about 30, and I keep at least 2/3rds in working condition. My current favorite is a digital. The number of the hour lights up in the position it would for a traditional clock. The minutes simply display in the middle. So at 12:45, you see all 12 numbers with a 45 in the middle. At 1:15, you only see one number in the hour slot and the 15 in the middle.

Most of my other ones have cartoon characters in the background or unique faces. I do have a couple of others that you have to pay a bit of attention to, in order to tell time.

Just love watches.

I want a watch like the binary clocks.
(checks thinkgeek.com)
Ok, they do make them, but I want one that's not as clunky.

I have a Citizen watch, which is great, but if I could have any watch I wanted, I'd have to choose the watch Niobe wore in The Matrix Reloaded because it's just the coolest one I've ever seen.

i just usually use my laptop, as strange as it sounds. It's actually surgically attached to my left arm.

It's silver with a green face and the numbers are on the left side of the display, but it's the same concept. You could probably find one by the same maker: Tokyo Bay

This one's not it exactly, but very similar to the one I have:

<<Edit: After taking a second look at the Niobe watch picture, this one's not nearly as cool as the one in the movie. I'd love to have that one too!>>

Yeah...I'm starting to think it was a custom, one-of-a-kind job. I have been searching since the movie came out and still haven't found the maker. Thanks for the Tokyo Bay site recommendation, though. They've got some pretty cool watches too. The watch you linked to looks to have the same type of concept, but I don't like the face at all.

A fifty dollar Timex would be adequate for me. Something like this:

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/31JHgDWQxEL._SX242_SY292_.jpg

The actual features that I like are a round, analogue face in a neutral color, plain except for the numbers and it must have numbers, a medium-brown leather band in a matte finish, and I really like the Indiglo feature, not huge, not tiny.

My favorite watch is the Chronoswiss Lunar Chronograph. It's more of a piece of jewelery or art than a practical time piece. For actually telling the time, I usually consult one of my electronic gadgets.

I kid you not, I'm wearing one of those right now (except that the LEDs are red -- I thought they looked better than the blue).

I use something else on me, like the cell phone, car, ipod, or a computer. I haven't worn a watch since I quit riding a bus everywhere back in '99, and I've always hated wearing them. I'm glad the world of today makes it practical to not wear one and I don't look too weird without one because many people are not wearing them now due to these same electronic devices.

I must admit that the binary one is pretty cool, though, and I might go for a wall or desk clock like that sometime.

I own exactly one purpose-built clock: A piece of etched glass with lines denoting the number locations that sits in a metal holder with analog clock arms. It rests upon my kitchen counter. I believe it cost 2 or 3 bucks.

Wow, I was walking through a mall the other day (work related, not willingly) and saw Casio watches for sale and I wondered if anyone over the age of 16 still bought them. You can be a geek, hell it's trendy these days, but knowing that having a Casio watch over this age (and possibly under) is seriously unattractive to average members (SF?) of the opposite sex is surely common knowledge.

I guess my own favorite watch is either the Kenneth Cole or the Lucien picard my wife has bought me over the years, though I really loved my old, cheap Ciro watch that had an after market leather strap. I left it in a hotel room one day, never got it back, fucking dishonest housekeeping staff.

Theorema, Copernicus model.

An automatic watch (manual winding, no batteries involved.) Very accurate if you keep it wound. It is also larger as a whole than most watches (not uncommon for these type.) This is actually not much different from the same kind of watches selling for thousands of dollars (bought for $200-300; forget.) The same people that make these watches use different manufacturing names which actually makes them sound cheap, however are fairly honest in the functionality. I suspect they just haven't been able to work marketing to their advantage, though they like to qoute msrp as several thousand (which they aren't too far off in watch mechanics.)
