I'm not sure how well this will catch on, but thought it might be fun if enough members participate. It's similar to the ...OF SOULS! thread (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=80), except with a picture. Great art skills are not required. Even if you consider yourself artistically challenged, you could add something as simple as a shape or line, or fill in a color.
I've never done this before so this may need to be adjusted later, but here's what I thought of so far:
The Basics
Make a short post announcing you want to participate. This is to avoid confusion and to make sure there aren't 5 people making a change on the same turn. Whoever is next in line will download the last image posted, add something, then post the picture. Remember there is an image uploader at the bottom of the forum screen for those who need it.
Any graphic program is allowed, as long as you're able to save this as a JPG file. It doesn't have to just be digital art. Scans and pieces of photographs can be used too.
The Rules
1. Only make small changes each turn. If you add so much it looks like a finished piece early on, the next person will have trouble contributing.
2. You may modify something someone else added but don't delete any changes entirely.
3. Elements in the picture may be resized, but the canvas needs to remain 620 x 550.
4. You may have more than one turn as long as it isn't consecutive and you give other members the chance to participate.
5. Don't be all low self-esteem and feel afraid to "mess up" the drawing by contributing. It's more fun if more people add their ideas.
Here's a shape to start with:
