For the past couple of days I sometimes get this:
--------------------
Unknown Host
Description: Unable to locate the server named "intpcentral.com" --- the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps there is a misspelling in the server name, or the server no longer exists. Double-check the name and try again.
--------------------
I can't go anywhere on the site. I leave for a while and come back and it is fine. Anyone else have this problems or is it all on my end?

I've had the same problem. I asked Heero about it and he said the problem is at my end, apparently DNS settings. I modified them, now it has worked for a while.

It's probably God's subtle way of telling us we shouldn't be doing this at work.

Modifying DNS settings didn't help. Oddly enough, I haven't had any problems accessing the site at work, only at home.

I get the same thing here at work from time to time. I had assumed I was just losing connectivity with the DNS server because of the firewall here.

I have no idea what he's talking about!
I had no clue what the DNS thing was about. So I looked it up. Someone somewhere suggested cleaning out the temporary internet files because there might be a broken something or other. I did that and things seem to be working fine now.

Last few weeks, every now and then I get a period of Firefox telling me
Intpcentral cannot be found: please check the address and try again. Which is annoying when you are pressing one of intpcentral's own links. *
Doesn't affect other sites at the same time , but I'm quite willing to believe it's Firefox playing up.

* One of Windows' least likeable features is to crash, then start Scandisk, whilst simultaneously telling you 'This is because Windows was not properly closed down --- to avoid seeing this again, close Windows properly in the future'.

That is usually when it happens.
This is more likely a DNS server problem, not a browser issue. There was a period earlier today, at least 30 minutes and maybe more, where I couldn't do a DNS lookup on intpcentral.com; the name servers weren't responding to pings or queries.
That is ns1 and 2 at travisbsd.org.
I'm sure he's probably aware of it; just wanted to try to keep people from blaming Firefox. If anyone wants to blame IE or AOL, though, feel free.

Same problem (cannot be found message). Kudos to Heero for immediately blaming someone else. He'll fit right in with the corporate world.;P

I'll fix the issue, I'll get a tertiary backup DNS setup...

For those of you who care, it was a 30 minute downtime in the connectivity of the DNS server's upstream, I've had more issues, including a small netsplit, which occured due to this. This is a rare thing, but I'll get a tertiary and fourth level backup going on some other boxen, one on an OC3, one on a T3, both non-local.
For those of you who care, it was a 30 minute downtime in the connectivity of the DNS server's upstream,
YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO US!!!
haa haa, just kidding.
