Here's a longshot.

I am now often to be found at this particular place eating lunch during the week:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_of_the_Great_Lakes.

That is, a garden along one side of the Art Institute of Chicago.

For whatever reason (that I haven't worked out yet), I started going here to get away from my desk (I eat alone, and at my desk otherwise).

If you're going to be in Chicago and want to join me for lunch there (or somewhere public nearby) sometime, just let me know by posting here, indicating when specifically.

You know, an individual INTPc meetup or something. You'll have to bring the camera.

Otherwise, I'll just enjoy the people-watching/damning in solitude as always.

Which member of INTPc are you hoping to seduce?

Make sure Ptah recognizes you so that he knows you're not a stranger in case you get hit by a car outside the restaurant or something and desperately need help. /Kidding. Enjoy your lunch.

Lol.

This is a very interesting offer you propose, Ptah. Did it come to you suddenly, or have you been considering extending the invitation for a while now? I know if I were you, I'd happily post the OP, then immediately freak out and hope no one ever shows up.

I think we have a shortage of memebers in the Great Lakes region. I'd come visit you for lunch, but it's a long way to Chicago.

I've got a layover in O'Hare scheduled for about 4:30 to 6:00AM on Friday, 10/3/08.

If you really really really want to meet me, I'll be in the airport, probably trying to sleep.

Just let me know a day or two in advance. :) I could like, walk out to the front of the airport or something. We could get a biscuit at one of those places inside the airport.

It is just what it is -- a curiosity. The actual post came suddenly, but the idea had been kicking around for a while.

Simple/stupid as this - I eat lunch every day by myself. That's well and fine, really, but I wondered one afternoon --- "what if there are members of INTPc in this city right now? Wouldn't it be interesting if I happened to bump into one or more of them? But would we even know it? Why not try to narrow down the scope a bit, and see what happens?" Given that I work in fairly large city, it seemed the probability wasn't too far gone.

So there you have it.

That's a pretty good idea. I might have to steal it.

My train delay in Chicago turned into a nonstop flight to the west coast.
