I've noticed some of the old icons of net culture seem to be fading from the collective consciousness, and sometimes dropping off the net altogether. So I thought I'd put together a list of some old favorites and ask for help finding links to others that seem to be lost.

Found:

INTERCAL programming language link (http://www.progsoc.uts.edu.au/~sbg/intercal/intercal.html)
geek-girl.com archived (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.geek-girl.com)
The art of trolling link ([url=http://www.urban75.com/Mag/troll.html)
Funny RFCs link (http://interglacial.com/~sburke/rfchumor.html)

Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol (HTCPCP/1.0) link (ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2324.txt)

The Cluetrain Manifesto link (http://www.cluetrain.com/#manifesto)

Lost:
dd/sh programming language

I remember when you could actually make money on the internet.

I've paid more US tax than I have Australian income tax. :(

I miss text based Muds from the early 80's. With the MOTD dated at something like 1992.

How about 'gopher' before we had http. That was fun.

Oh, and telnet dialling (in the UK) by way of JANET before we had IP addresses.

Muds all the way!

Edit : hmm some of my nostalgia predated the net. sorry.

You could probably run it with Cygwin (http://cygwin.com/).

I'd have to download linux version fo Q, the textmode Q, and cygwin.

I loved Quake, and as much as I'd love the textmode, I think I'm too lazy for that. I already have the windows version, so that would have been way easier. I might try that someday though.

This may still be popular, but it just vanished out of my conscious memory.
