This opening post is an ad for the much anticipated second month of the INTPCentral Trivia Night. Our sponsors have promised $25,000 this month for rhinosaur's Quiz Master debut. He's implied it might be a doozy with a much more creative point spread than mine.

He'll let us know the date and time when he can but I'm hoping it will be next weekend (15th or 16th) sometime.

Announcement
Trivia night will begin at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 18. It's actually not all trivia, nor is it all scavenger hunt, but what else should I call it?

There will be 63 questions in 11 categories. Harder questions are worth more money. PLUS, if you get all the questions in certain categories, you get a bonus. Put together, it's all worth a total of $25000. You could be rich!

There will be an element of strategy involved, and some questions will be pretty difficult, so put on your "competitive" hats, and meet me back in the Playground on 11/18.

Is that 7:00pm EST?

Can it be in an uneditable thread? Madmins?

It'll make everyone's lives easier I think.

I don't understand. Would the questions be in the uneditable thread and the answers be in another thread?

I think he's worried that people will go back and edit their answer posts once they've seen subsequent posts with the correct responses. Personally, I think if people are willing to cheat just for some fake money on a website, well, that's so pathetic I don't even care.

Yeah, we can tell if anyone edits, if someone wants to challenge it.

Yeah, we can tell if anyone edits, if someone wants to challenge it.

Plus, assuming that you can read all the pre-edited versions as well, you could always incorporate public shaming.

Tuesdays are the only night of the week that I go out and get hammered. :(

I found it to be the biggest pain in the ass for hosting the game. You start dealing out points and then you have to go back because someone edited their post. Then it's a competition for who did the edit first.

It gets a little nuts. Seems like it'd be easier to have a non-edit sub-forum for these competitions (maybe move it back to the regular forum once it's over).

I guess the host will have to scratch out correct answers somehow...I dunno. That's just what drove me nuts hosting the game. I guess if no one else cares or it's too much work for you guys, not much I can do. Just given this is as much a race as anything else...

How about no editing allowed? Even for spelling mistakes. You submit a post, that's your answer. Want to change or add anything? Submit another post.

Subforum is set up (http://forums.intpcentral.com/showthread.php?p=982822#post982822).

I like that idea, but how will I strikeout answered questions from the OP?

Also:
24ish hours notice

Why not in the weekend?! Working day + time differences are excluding me (and others) from the game.

No good reason, other than it wasn't prepared in time for the weekend that just happened, and I'm quite frankly ready for it to be over so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I think I was able to exclude you from the group.

Make a post in there and see if you can edit.

GAH! I'm supposed to go on a tour of a brewery at that time tomorrow... decisions, decisions... Trivia or free beer?! Why can't I have both?! Why won't you let me live!

Ahem, I'll calm down now.

I got home a little bit later than I expected. The questions will be posted within the next fiveish minutes.
