Thanks!!
It was brutal. I think I saw most of the google servers trying to figure it out.
o.O How on earth did you figure that out, I was puzzling over it for yonks!

I googled every combination I could think of relating to the images on the picture. That gave me nothing. Then I googled MBTI Central and went through the google images. It lead me to a thread at MBTI Central about favorite artists. I opened that and just started going through every post and link to see if I could find it.
And thanks rhinosaur, that was a lot of fun and excruciatingly difficult (as it should be).

=)) I was googling parthenon, wine bottle, greece, american artists who visited greece, hudson river, worship of athena etc.
So are you doing the next quiz?

Yeah nice one rhinosaur. Sorry I missed most of it, I live in the wrong timezone.
Anyway, mgb let me know if you think you'll have time to do a December one.

Yeah, I think I googled those too. And got nothing. It's like no one has ever described that painting in the history of the internet.

Next quiz. I was thinking around Christmas time. I'd really like to solve this time zone problem. It seems like a pain in the ass for a lot of people (like me when you did yours).

I liked the whole concept of it. Parthenon was built as a temple in homage to the goddess of wine; the painting juxtaposed the bottle with the structure at the back, and the worshippers at the bottle vs. the temple. Subtle irony of goddess/bottle/temple - where is the real spirit.
It's ok, I think everyone is competitive enough to stay around for it. *references the PHaSAR battle with you and CJ Woolf*
I'd have preferred a weekend though. I was at work and hyper as a bunny... and ended up having to do more work later at night.
I'm not going to be around Christmas though. Right now, I'm kinda inspired by rhino and am highly tempted to create one quiz too. The only thing stopping me is the thought that if I do one, I can't earn any casino cash.

Ditto, though I'm not concerned about the inability to earn cash. I found myself thinking up quiz questions during my downtime at work today...

That's what I've been doing, inadvertently.
Anyhow, mgb, let me know if you don't have time to do the quiz, if I do one, it'd be the first weekend of Dec, i.e. 5th (friday) or 6th (saturday). I'm out till end of the year fulfilling my wanderlust.

Re timezone difficulties - holding them on the weekend will help a lot with that. People aren't at work, plus it's easier to stay up late then. Sunday US time won't work though, cos that's Monday where I live.

NOT SUNDAY! *rawr*
I'd prefer sunday morning (saturday night for the westies), or saturday morning (friday night for the westies).
And hey... Does each quiz winner retain their colour? Or will rhino lose his colour?

Couldn't the processing members be given an ugly colour like gray or something.
Will rhino lose his?
I couldn't have each letter coloured differently, could I? I'd love to have bluebell's synnie version of my letters as my colours. :theclap:

I don't want people to be worried about having to make a quiz and therefore not playing up to their potential. If you say you don't have time or just don't want to (I understand it's a fairly big time investment) that's cool; one of the other winners can do it or I can do it (I have lots of free time).

Not trying to be difficult but my weekend is actually different as the Middle East is typically either Thursday-Friday or Friday-Saturday. . . However I actually have more free time for this on my working days (ahem) because I tend to go out and about on the weekends. Sunday is probably the ideal day for me.

Wait. Your sunday is what day and time for me? You're about 6 hours behind me, isn't that right?

Yeah, Sunday morning for me would be Saturday night for them and Sunday afternoon for you. Unfortunately for the Europeans that would be about 4am. I don't really think there is a solution for this which is why I suggest simply letting the Quiz Master dictate the time and place based on their own schedule and let everyone else worry about getting themselves in on the action.

I agree but if the quizzes are scheduled for the weekend it does minimise the number of people excluded.

No, no, I was kidding (mostly), I had other stuff to do that night, like an assignment due the night before and a prospectus due the next day and a couple of friendships to salvage, among other things. I will beat the shit out of everyone next time. :highfive:
I'm still picking my new username color. It's a complicated process. My stylist is going through some possibilities as we speak.
Until then, what about this for the scavenger hunt:
The test is posted and we have 2-7 days (I'm not sure) to PM the results to the person running the contest. The results are tallied and the casino cash is distributed based on a system like the casino uses to distribute sports betting winning. Your number of correct answers (weighted appropriately) divided by the total number of correct answers, multiplied by the dollar amount available.
The advantages would be that you can write the test on your own time. If you can't be around on that day, it's ok, you have a few days. Also, you get to try and find the answers to every question. Something is kind of fun about answering the questions and once it's been answered, there is no reason to look. Might attract more players.
Disadvantages. I'd have to accept PMs. Also, opens the door a little more for cheating. All Mac's hard work in setting up this forum would have gone to waste. You only get one shot at each question, currently they are almost guaranteed to be answered by someone. Might attract more players.
I think the month time line is good, so think about it. It doesn't matter as much to me (this round) I can it do either way, maybe just something different to try. However, you'll be subject to my whims as far as the time and date of the test posting - which like every test will be unfortunate for someone.

mgb, teal / aqua? It'd go with the cup!
/stylist
No... I like the speed and immediacy of live rounds... Besides even with the odd timing and odd day, rhino attracted around 14 people viewing the thread at any one time and at least 250 posts in 24 hours. I'd think that's a pretty good hit rate.
Maybe what we need more is to make it clear when the quizzes are launched and where it'll be:
- I only spotted it on the new posts / didn't realise where the subforum was.
- Perhaps folks who are interested to take part could let the quiz master know beforehand so a PM blast could go out a week and a day prior, besides a general blast to everyone who may not have noticed.

I like the speed and immediacy of the live rounds, too. It's much more fun when you can see your competition, it feels more like a race.

I agree with all of that. If it was just done by PMs, I probably wouldn't bother. It's the live rounds that make it fun/interesting to me.
Some of the fun is seeing how fast people come up with answers as well as the weird and wonderful answers people come up with.

Or the number of pathetic random guesses an ENTP will take shamelessly while flapping at others to not let mgb take a category
And to those of you who repped me on being competitive. :boohoo: I'm really nice.... except when there's casino cash at stake.
