Thread Rating was turned on today.

A minimum of 3 votes is required to show the rating. If you think we should lower or increase that, lmk. Also, the feature was not enabled in the "Introductions" forum, as it seemed unnecessary.

The intention is to help you guys sort out the the good threads from the others. When viewing a thread, click on the "Rate Thread" link near the top of the thread and a drop down menu should appear. Click on the appropriate rating to vote.

You can change you vote at any time: if the thread turns out be be less than expected or gets better with time, you can always vote accordingly.

:)

edit: here's a crappy picture that shows where to look:

But do you think that this might prevent people from making good threads too out of fear they will get rated poorly? I like that there are always lots of new threads on this board, even if some of them are kind of lame or self-centered.

Of course it will deter people.

But perhaps the quality of threads will improve. The one about INTP and blood types was an example of an oxymoron thread that should never have started.

Nah... I think people will always stick whatever the crap they want to up. I don't think the ratings will affect much for me... it won't really apply to new threads, at all, and I read almost all of the new threads anyway... but after threads have been around for a while, I'll either have become attached to them, or I'll be pretty much ignoring them. Ratings won't have an effect on that.

Almost exactly the same as Jim. ( Except that laziness has finally impelled me to rely on the crutch of 'New Posts', which is... a fine concept, but not, as it were, an exact science. There's something not quite right with the highlighting of read posts, to name just one aspect of unease. )

Useless! Ridiculous! I'll only rate this thread, and rate it terrible.

I look forward to rating every thread that has been rated, as terrible (unless I made it)

I hope you will make an exception for 'WHEN THIS WORLD BURNS (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3294)'. If consistently rated excellent, it will make Jemma of Tannum Sands extremely happy.

No, although the accusation comes oddly from someone with 2661 posts since October compared with my 1810 posts since about February last year. There is a definite point to the thread, although the reasons may not seem obvious to all...

How can you say that about Jemma of Tannum Sands. (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3294&goto=lastpost) She is a good person. You should try and like her.

PS (I also rated this thread as terrible. The spirit compelled me. And I agree with your rating criteria)

Before you know it she'll have merchandising and a theme park named after her.

I bet Shai Gar can't wait to go on Jemma of Tannum Sands The Ride. (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3294&goto=lastpost)

"Jemma of Tannum Sands" - sounds so grand; like a princess in the Lloyd Alexander trilogy or something.
