I'm changing the format a little here. I think you'll find it more fair regionally, but more difficult overall. The questions will be more time consuming to answer which should balance out some of the time zone constraints we've had in the past. Also, I think this one could be really rewarding for someone willing to put some time into it.
And with that, the part you've been waiting for:
Question 1:
I know that everyone here loves fraternities and sororities and looks upon them with the utmost respect. With that in mind, you'll love this question.
List the fraternal associations of every American who made it into space from the inception of NASA to the Challenger disaster of 1986.
No part marks.
$5000
Question 2:

Describe what this means and give its non literal meaning.
$5000
Question 3:
This is a fun one. Sort of.
There is a video game here:
http://www.addictinggames.com/motorush2.html
To win this one you have to have the highest score of anyone here. Your score will be the number of trophies you attain multiplied by your score. You need to post a picture of the Trophies Room page inside the game for your score to count. There is two catches with this. The first is that you can only post your score once. The second is that this question can't be the last one answered. After the other questions have had correct answers the scavenger hunt is over and any submissions given for this question after the final question has been answered won't count. While the game itself is easy, obviously it's in your best interest to employ some strategy here when it comes to your submissions.
$5000, of course.
Question 4:
Six Degrees of Separation.
Link the following groups with the fewest degrees possible. Your score is a total degrees from all the groups. You'll need to show your work as well.
1. Connect Shaq to Miley Cyrus via Errol Flynn
2. Connect Guy Ritchie to Madonna via Takashi Shimura
3. Connect Cary Grant to Kathryn Hepburn via Charlie Chaplin and Mary-Kate Olson.
Seriously, good luck with this one. And because you have to show your work, no duplicate answers.
$5000. I wish I could give you more.
Question 5:
This is an easy one. Some easy math.
This is a diagram of a set of concrete stairs:
http://www.intpcentral.com/uploads/24839784e9b329ad5c9ecf5ddbb8a491SCAN001001js.JPG
I need the following:
Unit Rise (units: mm one decimal place)
Unit Run (units: mm one decimal place)
Total Rise per Flight (units: mm round up to next full mm)
Total Run (units: round up to next full mm)
Soffit Rise (units: round up to next full mm)
Soffit Run (units: round up to next full mm)
Soffit Line Length (units: round up to next full mm)
Soffit Area (units: metres squared, three decimal places)
Soffit Form Ply (size of sheet is 2.88m^2) (units: full sheets)
Soffit Stringer (400mm from beam. 750mm O.C. maximum - evenly spaced) (units: number of stringers)
Longest Shore Post (400 mm from beam. Deduct 250mm for formwork components) (units: round up to next full mm)
I'm going to be a hardass on these ones. The math is pretty easy, but figuring out the actual components will be difficult, as well as how they all fit together. You have to get all of them to get this correct. Since there is really only one right answer, if you request it, I'll let you know what you got wrong via the rep points, but not how you got it wrong. Also, make sure your units and the number of decimal places is correct.
I'm going to try and attach a larger view of the image, either here or on another post.
Oh, $5000.
Good luck with all of these. And happy New Years!!
