View Full Version : Function "introduce" not found. Abort, Retry, Fail

[Edit: Subject was cut-off, should read "Function 'introduce' not found. Abort, Retry, Fail?"]
Indeed, this is possibly the area where my lack of skills is most apparent, but I will (pretend to) try anyway.
What is in a name? Rinascita is a reference to the rebirth I consider myself in the middle of, but you can ignore it at will, at this time GRS will be an acceptible alternitive.
A little bit about me, then. Once we skip the areas I dislike talking about we don't have much left.
I live in the United States currently, I plan to live in Montéal, Québec, Canada someday. I consider myslef a writer, though the prospect of "going pro" is laughible to me. I speak fluent English, and am a student of English, French and Italian.
While I am Italian, or rather Sicilian, I have never been to either country, or any other country aside from USA and Canada. The future? I have to admit, both countries have little draw to me.
Robert Zemeckis and Baz Luhrmann make me giddy. I never liked George W. Bush, I lost all respect for Eminem, Cookie Monster: Yay, new Disney animation: Nay.
I am 21 years old, and I think my feet are too big.

Welcome aboard!
Did you know that the article of clothing most commonly bought too small is shoes? I was talking to a lady who used to work in a shoe store and she said that women would come in and say, "I'm a size six and a half." Then they'd try on shoes, going up a half size at a time, complaining, "These shoes are made wrong!" and when they got up to about an eight and a half, the shoes would finally fit.
I cannot understand why women are so self-conscious about their shoe size. I have big feet too, if it makes you feel any better.

Hello...
I'm a Size 9 myself. Why should one want small feet? They're probably harder to balance on. Never mind cuteness or daintiness. You know how Barbie dolls with their tiny feet on their tiptoes for high heels can't stand up by themselves? I'll take the big feet with sneakers, thank you.

I can never understand how they can stand the high heels...I asked some of them once and they told me that in reality it hurts them too...but they still wear them o.o
Welcome, cookie monster rocks ^-^

I do wear high heels (not exclusively, lol) and I am pretty comfortable with them. I just don't wear narrow shoes, these are the ones that makes feet hurt.
edit: ... and to think I declared I wasn't going to talk about makeup and shoes, lol :D
Miss Padfoot
16 Aug 2004, 12:01 AM
I always wear narrow shoes when I can get my hands on them. My feet slip out of regular ones. It's because of the genes from my mother, whose feet are AAAA-width (and her heel is AAAAAA). But I avoid heels like the plague.
Melody
16 Aug 2004, 12:04 AM
I saw a comic showing that the reason high heels are nifty is because it makes a woman's butt stick up. I don't know if that's true, but it sounds really interesting. ^.^

Hehe, well, we don't talk about them like other girls do...I don't think those subjects have to be taboo, we just think about them in another vine. ^^

I didn't expect so many replies this quickly.
While I wouldn't want tiny feet (I have enough balancing issues as it is) a Woman's size 9 is on the small side to me. I never can remember how to convert between Men's and Woman's, but I wear Men's anyhow.
Actually my current shoes are too big, due to obsene cheapness at the time.

I'd like to point out that only 33% of Melody's sig is true. ;p

Welcome to the forum, Rinascita.
I saw a comic showing that the reason high heels are nifty is because it makes a woman's butt stick up. I don't know if that's true, but it sounds really interesting. ^.^
Try walking on the front part of your foot in front of a full-length mirror; having the heel off the ground forces a person to strut, showing off their legs. It also encourages standing with the knees straight (most people stand with their knees bent, just a little) to stay balanced easier and shift some of the strain from the quadriceps to the skeleton. The leg-fully-extended thing is what causes someones' butt to stick out, not the heel being elevated.
(I am lame enough that I actually tested this before posting.)
I wear a womens' 7.5, mens' 6. It's difficult to find a pair of shoes intended for a female that are wide enough without having so much extra length that my heel slips out all the time.
I can't wear shoes with any kind of a raised heel; even half a centimetre is quite painful after walking/standing a while. I can walk digitigrade just fine without shoes, so I suspect it's the lack of ability to use my ankle as a spring to cushion the impact of a step, at the same time as my knees aren't being used for that either.
Rinascita
16 Aug 2004, 01:38 AM
I've never worn anything but flat shoes, so while this is all very interesting, I can't comment.
Now, as far as "Vampire watermelons" go, I'm temped to wonder why the melon can't just be burned without the need to scrub it clean, but I'll not bother.
I like to consider myself odd, or weird, but come on... I can't compete with that.

Hmm. I'm 5'3.5'', so size 9 feet on my frame aren't small. But they don't look like clown feet either. I don't think I could wear guys' shoes as easily because, unlike most of my family, I do not have wide feet - they're probably average-width at the ball and narrow at the heel. Narrow heels are good for tae kwon do (they can concentrate the power of a back kick or axe kick used for board-breaking) but bad for shoes - I always wear out the backs of my shoes, very quickly if they're not running shoes with extra heel cushioning.

I see you finished Mario, but why does he have one green shoe? ...and he is missing a button?

I was just saying 9 is smallish to me, but your point about "clown feet" is interesting, I certinly don't have that.
Well, it's not a big deal, just part of my random spiel.

Now all we need is a theme song. I wish I had MIDI software. I could make a pretty good MIDI for the Mario theme, I think.

16 Aug 2004, 02:27 AM
Oh, I thought the green shoe might have been a weird reference to "The Man with one red shoe". Of course you couldn't have the shoe be red, as much of mario is red, so you use it's oppisite -green-.

I would agree that 13 is big.

Should I speak until there are no more words to be had, having exhausted the known languages to ensure that nothing went unsaid?
Should I sit in silence and watch as the temporal tides erode what little remains to remind me of what was once apparent possibility?
Many times have I bashed my self-image into mental walls, each time hoping to cast out even one brick, so that in time this grotesque structure may fall.
Won't you come with me to gather the pieces on that day?
There was once whimsy in the air at a time in which we walked hand-in-hand until from this grip did we slip, into what the other was not to know.
Tell me what became of the whispered song under the stars, and the slipstream jingle in the grass. Above all else tell me, do the dreams still come to you?
The world has darkened, becoming a cold and silent place. I miss your music in the background.

Hey, that isn't far at all, maybe we should get together online and make vague assertions about various aspects of ourselves, and form some plans for a friendly meet-up that will never come to pass, though trough no fault of ours.
I don't even slightly like coffee, but with all we may soon have been through, I think we can manage to be friends.

If only I had bothered to listen to these simple words of wisdom, I would have been spared a brief series of horrors ranking among the least of my life, but horrors none the less.
One of which being the library card I found in a shoe. This seemingly innocent plastic object has become a haunting reminder of my spectacular failures in life by way of my inability to find it's rightful owner.
What do I do with it? I can't just throw it away, my conscience would never allow to to indirectly destroy this passport to knowledge.
So I carry it with me, always, waiting, hoping . . .
