I'm looking forward to watching it. Planning on going with a large group and sneaking a bottle of rum into the theater.

I know nothing about the comic strip (I apoligize ahead of time) but the trailers for this look exceptional.

Another trailer that looks very cool (shockingly, actually): http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy/trailer_3/

Yeah, HHGTTG is another big one for me, that would be another one to bring a huge group of like-minded individuals (and rum)

Huh! Is this a movie about New Orleans, or Las Vegas?

Huh! Is this a movie about New Orleans, or Las Vegas?

It's based off a fictional city which revolves around Frank Miller's series of cult comics, or "graphic novels" which are famous for their violence, sex and coolness.

Most reviews for the film have been very positive, so far. I expect it to be quite good.

Hmm... Haven't really read the comics, but I've seen them... didn't know there was a movie in the works.

I'll have to go see HGTTG... same rules, but probably no rum. Also loking forward to Kung Fu Hustle.

OK, anyone whose read the comic and seen the trailor:

My response was: [i]"OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT FUCK" *hides behind chair, attempts to claw out brain*

Similar? I'm thinking of not going, the casting is so perfect.

It's already been said by a few to be the most authentic and accurrate comic-to-film conversion ever made. That is some serious shite(or, maybe not). I can't wait.

Sweet, I just watched the trailer and I must say it looks pretty damn good. Kind of oozes style.

I'm reading all the comics now. And being a nerd and checking constantly to see who's playing what. The casting looks pretty damn perfect.

Just got back from Sin City. All in all a super movie. The way the story (stories) unfold seems a little disjointed, but this is acceptable since the movie flows just like a comic book reads. To this end, the use of color and CGI is excellent. Everything is laid out on the screen to give the impression of a series of over-the-top comic book illustrations stitched together into one long motion picture. IMHO best comic-themed movie I have seen. The melodrama and gore might grate on the neves of some, but those will be the same people who wouldn't appreciate the comics in the first place.

Go see this movie. If for no other reason than to witness Frodo^H^H^H^H Elijah Wood turn sprightly homicidal freak.

That's the way to do it; was going to go last night, I'll probably get to it sometime this week. I am looking forward to it, especially the incomparable jessica alba.

I saw Sin City last nite. Overall an excellent, breakthrough piece of work.
I went to the 4PM show at multi-plex theater & they were showing this in the room with the smallest seating capacity. Big mistake!
It was a sell-out at 4PM - no small feat.

I saw it Friday. Some people were smoking up in the car before the movie and I figured if there was any movie I should see stoned it may as well be this one.

I loved it!

I saw one of these 'making off' things about Sin City. It was almost entirely CGI in as much as nearly all the acting was green screen or blue screen or whatever they call it nowadays. I will be interested to see how that pans out into the final film when I have a chance to see it.

The movie was visually amazing. The theatre I went to put on an impressive pre-show with strippers behind backlit screens, industrial music, and a trivia session. My friend's husband won the Sin City book (which he gave me!) and we drank a few pints of draft. Sin City was very violent, perhaps more than any movie I have seen in a while, so I would not recommend it to everyone.

I have no car, but I just bum rides from my friends who do have them.

And I'm going to see it again in the next few days. This time probably drunk or high, just to compare the two experiences.

I enjoyed it. I came into the movie knowing nothing about it other than it seemed to be black and white, so I found the style intriguing, yet something familiar I couldn't quite put words to. It became crystal clear when I heard afterwards it's based on comics. Also explains the popularity.

I also saw the making-of featurette and I'm dying to see the actual film. My friends and I are going tonight, so hopefully the crowds won't be too bad.

Is it just me?
Every time I see Stem's avatar I think of Elijah Wood's character.

Finally saw it...and I loved it, of course! I just wish the story with Kevin (Elijah Wood) was longer, because that one was definitely my favorite of the three. The yellow guy at the end was just silly looking, and the part with Del Toro's head talking was a bit over the top, too...but I'll forgive them for it because the rest was just so damn good. I especially liked how they had Nancy fall for Bruce Willis' character. That was sweet.
