But don't think of me as some god-like entity far far superior to your petty concerns and minute intellects: it's not like that at all really ( or we can imagine it isn't: pretend-games are always fun ). Rather, think of file_cabinet as the Governor --- or Warden for Americans --- and myself as one of his approachable lesser underlings, a friend and guide with a truncheon.
There will be dark times ahead, times that call for the utmost sacrifice and willingness to go to the very edge; times in which some will be weak and others will fall. Yet I promise you that in return for your whole-hearted support and total fanatic loyalty, there will be always the prospect of final victory right around the corner, and even if the faint-hearts go totally insane and the weak crumble into tear-stained gibbering wrecks, it will be worth it because our cause is just; and one day, one day the world will be a better place for our striving.

The appointment of Claverhouse as a mod was the best decision since the decision to temporarily ban Zedo and myself.

…from a harder man than le petit caporal... Dear Claver:
You replied to my post—a legitimate and insightful contribution to this forum—by quoting a grim man who was charged with high treason and “other high crimes against his establishment,” and a soulless animal who refused to recognize the legality of the court because of egomaniacalisms such as “a king cannot be tried by any superior jurisdiction on earth.”
You are obviously ill equipped to exercise licit censure and authority of any kind in this forum.
I urge you to acquaint yourself with the fundamentals of freedom of speech from eminent members like Shai Gar, deepsky, mgbradsh, booyalab, songbird, Zedo, and Utopmk (though the latter may unfortunately not be available for a while).
Concurrently, for your own benefit, you may want to invest in a few good Medieval England Monarchy History books, a topic you seem to be endeared with. Charles I is hardly a “harder man” than anyone at all. Described as shy and physically deformed, he had a speech defect that made his pronouncements painful for him and his audiences alike. It is most likely that the quote you are so generously crediting him with was in fact just the re-utterance of something he heard during pillow talk with his enlighten French and Roman Catholic wife, Henrietta Maria, sister of Louis XIII, King of France.

No, and it's not mediaeval: The quote is well-known, and from a letter to Strafford. Whom he sacrificed to avoid civil war. Which you are welcome to condemn as much as he did, but the reasons and pressures on any ruler are thankfully something no ordinary person is required to face.
CI, as Wingfield-Stratford once put it can be invested with the persona of any other English King according to taste: from the cruel maniac John I to the weak feeble Henry VI. It is the personality of the receptor that determines how they view him, and their individual susceptibility to propaganda. ( The French have had no great kings since Henri IV, although Charles X was pretty good, so you may be biased against greatness. ) More recently such historians as Kevin Sharpe have emphasised his extraordinary strength.
Bodily weaknesses, those you mention: shyness and stuttering are scarcely relevant to any consideration of power; and you might like to consider the equally strong mind of the Leper-King, Baldwin IV, who was crowned at 13, whilst afflicted, and died of the terrible disease, blind, deformed and incapable of sensation at 23, yet splendidly led the crusader-kingdoms against Saladin for nine years to the very last. However, Charles was of healthy body, after a sickly childhood: the brooding maniac Cromwell crept into the room after the decapitation and studied the corpse alone: "This was a strong body, promising long life." he worriedly fretted.
However I agree that appreciation of such a man as Charles the First is caviar to the general. Thank God.
***
over 30: opposite of rich ( except in kindliness and simple honesty which accounts for so much more ): and I wouldn't want to be a ruler, let alone a king.
And this is the last time: Scorpios are nice, good, stable, undevious and trusting people --- the fact I awoke at 5am last night, turned on the computer, joined the internet, went to intpcentral merely to change my password, shut down and went back to sleep has nothing to do with it.

True, but I don't think we should confuse forgiveness/apathy with having a short memory.

I think whether it is forgiveness, apathy or short coming of memory (all common in a forum of intp's), it can result in a resolution of hostility.

First, even if one sees your defence of Claver as an honourable endeavour, Claver can handle a few tough words by himself…real well.
Second, what do you think a true INTP prefers: someone’s virtual nose in the ass or a debate? Anyway, whatever you think, I’m not the brown-noser type, so my praises for Claver have only one place to go: cybervoid. I just won’t take his mod promotion for granted; I remain skeptical, I want a debate. Of course, he is free to respond whatever way he wishes—or just plainly ignore me. Whatever I think or say won’t change a darn thing…and so it shouldn’t.
Third, Claver is a solid INTP with two feet firmly on the ground, he can handle a little rebuff. There is nothing personal; it is just for fun. If he disapproves of my discourse, I am fully confident that he’ll let me know.
Best regards,

The imaginary world in your self-appraised mentally challenged mind is, however, likely no more grotesque than one’s life under the monarchs of England. Isn’t it one of their own that once said:
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
