Interesting idea behind it though terribly flawed, isn't it? I also find it hard to believe it could have been located in a convenient enough location, or somewhere that might potentially contribute to the long-term interest. Come to think of it, if the entire family became brutally murdered, no one would hear them scream. . .

Should theoretically reduce heating/cooling costs substantially given proper siting/construction (<3 environment)... and be pretty cool to boot.

But who is going to buy it?

INTPc should totally get a pool going to buy that.
If I had that kind of money and was looking for a place to live, there would just be no question. That is, assuming I could get it for just 300k, which seems really really unlikely.

Cool, now I can have a physical cave to complement my metaphorical one.

I don't think I'd want to live in a cave. Caves smell bad.

I don't like living with bats, and they're tough to keep out of your house if you live in a batful environment. In one of our homes, we basically had to make a bat habitat on top of our house because otherwise you'd wake up every morning with bats hanging from the rafters in your room. And you could whack them with a broom or something but they'd just freak out and fly angrily around the room. They wouldn't leave. I guess we could have killed them, but they weren't hurting anyone. Actually they were kind of nice to have around because they'd eat any mosquitoes that flew near the house. So in the evenings, you could read on the porch and not be eaten by little bugs. You could also watch countless bats flitting through the air just on the periphery of the area illuminated by the house lights.

I saw this on yahoo. Looks cool. I bet they find worms everywhere though.

*Family gathers around dinner table and lifts the lids containing their meals*

"Ahh! Tapeworms! Wait...tapeworms?"

Nice idea, but it wouldn't be a good idea here in South Florida when hurricane season hits. Shit, I'd suggest the cave-house if Florida weren't so damn flat.

The main problem would be light and airflow. I know that the old stone built houses with 3 foot thick stone walls we have in Europe are very good. They remain cool in summer and warm in winter.

Awesome. I would totally buy it, and live there.

I like bats, I like caves, and I love being away from people.

Although I would like it to be more finished, because lord knows, I would never get around to it.

I like bats.

Say that when you've been living with them and they shit everywhere.

Not to mention that some of them will happily drink your blood.

Kids and cats shit everywhere and I still keep them.

How do you know I won't drink theirs? Or worse?

Not the same. Cats and children can be trained to shit in appropriate places. For example, children don't sleep suspended from the roof over your bed and shit directly on top of your head. Bats occasionally do.

How do you know I won't drink theirs? Or worse?

Because it would probably taste horrible. And you could do worse things to them. You could probably kill them and eat them. But why would you want to? It would just upset the rest of the pack of bats and then you'd have a noisy cloud of swoopy insane bats flying around your home shitting everywhere instead of them hanging out, sleeping and shitting in one place each.

The house looks really cool. I imagine ventilation would be a problem though. Even if you pop a window, it's not like you're going to get a good crosswind blowing through your cave.

Clearly, you do not know my children.

I was actually hoping they would initiate me into their Vampire Coven so I could spend the rest of eternity lurking in the shadows, trolling for fresh meat.
Plus, then I could turn into a bat and fly, and that is just pure awesome.

I am so tired of you bible thumpers and your jackass deliah bullshit.

I'm so glad someone had the courage to call deliah out on her bible thumping.

I don't know about Deliah, but I have to use my bible, to thump my ass to get him moving.

Several years I read an article about people buying old missle silos for cheap and converting them into residences. It seems to me that would make a better "INTP cave" then an actual cave.

Him who?

My ass, of course. How do you think I pull my buggy around town, banging my bible and raving about the virtues of living a clean and pure life?

Geez kelly, try and keep up.

Shit, with 300 thousand i could buy my own cave and do a much better job at it, in a state and city of my choosing.
