How would you exploit a financial crisis?

Buy stocks that are likely to see a bailout. Buy stocks that seem to be irrationally depressed. Buy foreclosed homes on the way cheap from distressed banks.

I'd help spread the word to the voting populous that ending the drug war and taxing the fuck out of legalized weed would be a pretty good idea in terms of avoiding another Great Depression.

Ditto to both. I'm seriously considering the first, while the second is wishful (though very feasible) thinking in terms of it working. Government propaganda runs deep.

I'm going for the first, albeit somewhat modified.

Real estate prices have not fallen in Europe like they do in the US yet, but they will in the coming 6 months. I'm checking for good loan deals now, and will buy a house or apartment.

Real estate is always a good investment. Especially here, Europeans are flat builders (no skyscrapers), so there is always too little land for an ever growing population.

I think the original clergymen had a similar idea in mind. Swindle away the rest of the money from the people. Sure, things will get worse, but anyone that believes in that superstitious nonsense deserves it. I would do something like that except that I would need to convince myself of it first, which definitely wouldn't happen.

Dude, WHAT?! Why would you have to convince yourself that the snake oil works in order to sell it? The very best preachers are atheists. And yes, believers in superstition deserve it.

I dunno. I guess I have a heavy conscious. I can't see myself fucking over someone else completely for my own benefit, which is why I'd suck as a salesman. Even if they do deserve it, I can't do it. They're poor sheeple, and social conditioning and indoctrination made sure they never had a chance.

Not everyone is the analytical type like INTPs. Maybe that's what's so wrong in this country: the ones that blindly follow have way too much collective power in ruling our country. Their "power" isn't really theirs, however, since they are indeed followers. Case in point: war on drugs.

Investement in realestate or houses would probably be a good option, if you have the necessary capital and time. After the crisis is over, their value will go up. But you wouldn't know when that would be.

What specific kind of criminal activities thrive in a depression as opposed to a boom?

Scams based on get rich schemes surely flourish in times like this. I'm thinking of the "network marketing" and "work at home" stuffing envelopes type of things.
People are desperate and are not so critical in their thinking.
I think that if I did not have a conscience I would be a very succesful criminal, that said I still plan to start a cult sometime, complete with fortified compound in the wilderness and UFO landing pad.

Not buying stuff, so even less people can work, so everything gets even worse faster.

I think something really drastically need to happen to make people understand that we need real change.

It's like taking a scenario where you are thrown into really hot water, then you would scream and try to get out of there as fast as you can.
But now it seems it's more like finger-warm water that slowly starts heating, and were always adapting to the heat, and so, people won't notice that there really is need for a real change.

The problem is you cant know for sure which will disappear and which will stay. Buy the wrong stock and you lose your money. Given that most americans are in debt and dont really have money to buy much now they lost their financing, they cant really buy anything anyway.

Sell insurance to people. They're scared and some of em will buy it. If everything goes to shit just walk away with all the premiums and what ever you were able to leverage into your control. Create a compound in Wyoming invite military friends over to wait out the chaos and protect my/our holdings with traditional military gear, machine guns and what not.
If nothing goes to shit, just take my place as the business savvy pillar of the community that I am. haha
