The recent economic times have created some weird memes.

One seems to be that more people are interested in returning to a simpler and closer to the earth way of living. So ... the Amish have been getting more media attention of late.

Before you consider joining the Amish there are apparently some drawbacks that most people do not consider.

Here's a guide to thinking about signing on to be Amish.

And for good measure a video of an Amish rock band.

It's a generic teen sex/road trip comedy, but it's surprisingly good, and packages the conceits of the genre in a unique and really interesting way.

And the Amish are badass in it.

It was ok. Not that great. No one would ever mistake Seth Green for an Amish.

I remember hearing some report on 60 minutes a couple years ago. It was talking about how dealing drugs, casual sex, and just general hootenannie is pretty common within the amish and mennonite youth culture.

Oh, of course not. But I don't think they never expected you to suspend your disbelief.

Anyway, it certainly wasn't high art, but it was refreshingly not-terrible, pretty entertaining, and fairly original for a mindless teen comedy.
