There's no point in using Photoshop for resizing when there are quick and small programs like IrfanView.
The limits are quite annoying, but everyone using large avatars would be far more annoying, especially for 56k users. Pages would quite a while to load if everyone had 80kb avatars.

Exactly. There was someone who said they also have a limit on how many hours, in their subscription. ( Even without that, maybe not everyone with slow loading time wants to multitask the whole time they're online... )
Same thing applies, when a thread has several unexpected large pictures ... mixed in with posts that we can't know whether we wanted to read them, until we see them ( please no one say that it's possible to judge that by the title, the forum, or... any of the previous posts in that thread -- :dont: and, yes, this has been assumed, at least twice lately, e.g. about some of us reading threads that I was hoping would turn back into reasonable discussions... )
edit : if the thread title refers to appearace, e.g. beards, obviously pictures are expected
edit2 :rant: YardGnome - we shouldn't have to give up seeing avatars, just because some are envious *not naming any who might be* or won't ask another to resize for them, if they can't do it themselves.

On a second thought, if you visit the board regularly and have sufficient browser cache (I have 100 MB), most avatars are stored there anyway, so loading time shouldn't be much of an issue.
Avatars (and pictures) can be disabled from options. User CP -> Options -> uncheck Show avatars (and Show images).
edit : if the thread title refers to appearace, e.g. beards, obviously pictures are expected

I know you will blame your wingman hitting you, but if you look at the footage right before the collision, you were already pulling out of the trench. In any case, since the wingman was above and you were below, the wingman should have gone spinning out into space with you would collide with the trench. You should have taken one for the team and focused on Luke. After all, we've seen that there are always more potential junior sith lords hanging around.
I agree. If only because it seems like there is one set of rules for a select few (check out who has nicknames) and another set of rules for the rest of us.

No, you're supposed to get a nickname when you have 1000 posts. Some here have nicknames with only a few hundred posts. And some have larger avatars. etc.

Why have rules at all then?
If "things aren't fair".
120 X 120 is a rule. It applies to all but a two or three people. I can see why the rule is there, so pages will load faster and so eat it doesn't eat up a ton of server space. But just because someone is in a position of power or has been here longer, I don't think the rules should be bent for them. I'd love to have a bigger avatar(s). But I know I can't, so I resize everything. They can resize too. I'm not picking on MacGuffin, but it does create an artificial hierarchy here that doesn't need to exist. So either make it bigger or make everyone the same.
I'd also love to be helping with the melancholeric nickname race, but he isn't up a 1000 posts yet. Which is the rule. So should someone who is friends with an admin be able to have one, just because of their friendship with the admin? No, it's an abuse of power, albiet a mild one.

MacG and Div's avatars are the way they are because they were imported like that from the last incarnation. Nothing to do with exceptions.
Had they been diminished like everyone else's they wouldn't have complained in the least.

It's not the massive size, I just have some big ones that I'd like to put up but can't because they get too hard to see, or they are animated and the file size is a little too big.
