I don't usually like Horrors or foreign films. This movie could even be considered a comedy. I liked it. Did anyone else see this? What did you think?

I personally watched the movie because i previewed the soundtrack first. I thought it was very clever.

A couple of really funny things in it. The thing that made me laugh the most was when they were all pretending to be zombies. The fat guy's imitation was hilarious. But there were so many good things. And the movie was really natural and down to earth. The ending segment was a really clever spoof on hollywood happy endings. Yeah, definately a movie I'd see more than once. And yes, I thought it was obvious it was a comedy. You could tell by how they would constantly go for the laughs in every situation instead of the scares.

I loved it for the most part. Typical english movie, brilliant.
i find it amusing that the typical american movie is a peice of shit ripoff, and the typical australian movie is an original journeymans peice (not quite a masterpeice) but the aussie one is often lacklustre.
however the typical english movie is brilliant, generally quite humourous, often original in their takes on situations and their parodies are masterful.
shaun of the dead... other than "it made it onto my computer" i cant say much more

The tagline was "A romantic comedy, with zombies"
The movie is quite clever. It doesn't do most of the obvious jokes.
"Do you think he might be... ?"
"Don't say it. Don't say the zed word."

zed word?

zed word?
"z word", clarified for the American audience so that they don't read it as "zee word"

i was asking what the zed word was

"Zombie". I think It was alluding to the fact that in all of the George Romero zombie movies (night, dawn, day) the term "zombie" is used only once. They prefer not to name them anything, and the cause of the zombie outbreak is never fully explained.
There's a couple of little homages like that in Shaun.

28 days later was great, too, but outside that every foreign movie I have seen was a overly emotional, slow moving piece of crap.....Howard's End and The Postman were two rather painful experiences.
What english or aussie movies are good?
Why do you think American movies rip off English instead of the other way around, give examples? If English movies are better, why do you get our movies rather than the other way around?

cultural terrorism.
just about every english movie i have ever seen was good, the australian ones are kinda okay, the spectacular australian ones that i can remember in my just woken up freezing state are "you cant stop the murders" "dirty deeds" "the dish" and well... quite a few others... for your age group i recommend the dish.

and i do not believe i ever said that american movies rip off english movies, if you believe i have said this please point out where i said it. i was very clear.
i think it is pretty amusing that here in australia the only movies we call foreign are the ones that require subtitles, everything else is called a movie, be it english, canadian, new zealand, yank, australian or otherwise, and yet you seperate these movies because they were not made by a holywood hack with access to millions.
to prove my point i need only say that most american movies are shit (regardless of how you feel about "foreign films" i am sure you can agree) and the ones that are not shit are either remakes from an older movie (from a time when holywood was original) or it is a book made into a movie. and even then they manage to lay waste to the book, the movie may be good, but it is nothing compared to the book.

You called American movies ripoffs and then english ones brilliant. I read to much into it.

There are some good American movies that are original, but agree there are alot of bad movies. I would assume that ratio is true anywhere.

I liked how Dylan Moran was graphically ripped apart, innards and all. Peeking-through-fingers stuff. "Zombaid" was hilarious.
And Thermo, don't bother with Australian films, please.
I can think of only two good ones. "Proof" (1991, Hugo Weaving, Russell Crowe) and "Lantana" (2001, Anthony LaPaglia).

Yes, I think those two are good Shai Gar. Bite me.
They are both "human" dramas. By my judgement they probably would fall into your category of "touchy feely" Thermo. But personally I didn't think they were touchy-feely at all.
They both have fantastic characterisation and gravity. What I really liked about them was the fact that each character was unsure about their place in the world and how to relate to it, there were no cliched characters, and they acted like real people, not the chummy folksy "no worries, mate" type of attitude that people outside (and inside) Australia associate with us, that I loathe.
For me they represented the real Australia, not Australia the image of laid back larrikinism .
In contrast "Dirty Deeds" and "The Dish" were trite and predictable.
and the typical australian movie is an original journeymans peice
Like Crocodile Dundee?
MasterMerk

Yeah, Crocodile Dundee is the best :O
Most of our films are crappy, just like everywhere else I suppose. Recently they have been worse. I do like Romper Stomper and Mad Max.
Strangley, most of the most "acclaimed" Australian films are quirky comedies like Pricilla Queen of the Desert, Muriel's Wedding, Strictly Ballroom, The Castle and The Dish. I never got into any of them.

Australians have an affliction of not being able to take themselves seriously enough. Most of the time it's all jokes and jovial good humour. Ths culture is so predominating though, sometimes it has to be forced.
Often when someone gets serious and tries to make a point, whether it be a political activist or an artist, someone else will inevitably take the mickey out of them and say "Aw, get yer hand off it", the more odious "Jeez, no one gives a shit what your talking about" or the horrible "Lighten up, life is good, what have you got to be worried about? Have a beer".
All in all, almost a desire to disengage from the weightier things in life.
