Belief System Test (http://selectsmart.com/RELIGION/)
# 1. Secular Humanism (100%)
# 2. Unitarian Universalism (92%)
# 3. Liberal Quakers (78%)
# 4. Non-theist (75%)
# 5. Theravada Buddhism (71%)
According to the SelectSmart.com Belief System Selector, my #1 belief match is Secular Humanism.
# Secular Humanism Belief in Deity: Not considered important. Most Humanists are atheists or agnostics.
# Incarnations: Same as above.
# Origins of universe/life: The scientific method is most respected as the means for revealing the mysteries of the origins of the universe and life.
# After death: An afterlife or spiritual existence after death is not recognized.
# Why evil? No concept of “evil.” Reasons for wrongdoing are explored through scientific methods, e.g. through study of sociology, psychology, criminology, etc.
# Salvation: No concept of afterlife or spiritual liberation or salvation. Realizing ones personal potential and working for the betterment of humanity through ethical consciousness and social works are considered paramount, but from a naturalistic rather than supernatural standpoint.
# Undeserved suffering: No spiritual reasons, but rather a matter of human vulnerability to misfortune, illness, and victimization.
# Contemporary Issues: The American Humanist Association endorses elective abortion. Other contemporary views include working for equality for homosexuals, gender equality, a secular approach to divorce and remarriage, working to end poverty, promoting peace and non-violence, and environmental protection.

I relate to the description of Secular Humanism much more than the description of Unitarian Universalism. I could see myself as a Theravada Buddhist Monk as well. I am fascinated by the idea of living some sort of monastic life. I just have not found many secular monasteries.

# 3. Liberal Quakers
# 4. Seventh Day Adventist
# 5. Unitarian Universalism
I can appreciate Unitarian Universalism for its intentions, but I find the services pretty meaningless for me. I love Quaker beliefs (and score highly because I think that nonviolence should be fundamental to religious belief) but don't like just sitting in silence with a bunch of people (I can do that by myself). I don't actually know anything about Seventh Day Adventists.

INTP: INTPs are always right, therefore they should skip right to atheism, with an option on immortality as a simulation in a computer of unimaginable complexity at the end of time as proven by the laws of physics.

I think it's interesting that there is more diversity of responses than I would have expected for a type-specific site like this. There are some similarities, but it seems like there may be quite a bit of cultural/external influence (guessing?) to beliefs, instead of just personality preferences.

I disagree with many of its latent assumptions. Mainly that human life has inherent value, people have inherent rights, egalitarianism, that sort of thing.
I guess those things aren't really latent, but still somewhat hidden in a sense still I think.

Well, if we are talking about Rand, from what I've read of her I don't agree with most of her conclusions. However, her premises seem to be pretty good. I'll admit I'm not very well read on her though...
I don't really know of a term which sums up my views, maybe a Nietzchean positive nihilist could work. I'm closer to pre-christian thinking in any event. I find secular humanism to be basically secular christianity: Every man has a soul and can be saved through love and pity translates into every man is equal and all should have the same rights and value. I find either of these statements hopelessly incorrect and harmful to humankind as a whole.
The proof of this I believe is in the negative nihilism and subjectivism produced by the populace as a whole in this current age...There seems to usually be two possibilities left: If you haven't accepted the dollar as the one objective truth, you are a post-modern nihilstic failure who says stuff like 'elliot smith is one of the greatest composers of our century'. One of the most telling signs of such an individual is their predispostion to becoming lobster-like. They are everywhere in college...the ones that hate Walden because Thoreau thinks he has something to teach us.

hmmm...Neo-Pagan? whatever the fuck that is...I guess it applies in that what I believe is very individualized. I plan on being a philosopher for my living, so I think a lot about my metaphysical beliefs and I know what I am...
I am a pantheistic existentialist.
I believe existence is merely "what is", and "what is" proceeds in a certain determinate manner but with infinite novelty of which we can never know the full nature, outside of our watching it unfold. Perceptions of order and chaos are merely the little piece of "what is" we have been granted attempting to make sense of "what is". We and everything around us are merely modes of expression of "what is". Thus, as in existentialism, there are only transient subjective truths which we create for ourselves. As modes or affectations of the infinite novelty of existence, we can only obtain the truth(whatever that means) of the creative meanings which we ourselves apply to our experience of the infinitely novel unfolding of existence. All attempts at rational objectification of reality only serve to hinder our understanding of infinite novelty, or rather, such attempts do serve to further our understanding of infinite novelty but only temporarily and partially. Such questions as "why?" do not apply to the nature of "what is" but only "?" applies. I worship "?" Does that qualify as neo-paganism?
