Every once in a while I get this. Only with Firefox though. If I switch to IE, I get on the site and then Firefox works. Anyone else?
Try flushing your dns cache:
start...run...command...ipconfig /flushdns .
If there is an option in FF to always request sites from the server (don't rely on cache) I'd try selecting that option as well.

I get the same problem and its becoming more frequent. Coincidentally i called my isp's support line today on this very matter. We reinstalled the modem driver, cleared the history/cookies/cache from firefox and IE ... it seeemd to run better for a few hours but that was all. Also, I just flushed the dns cache but sadly, no improvement either. Has anyone tried anything else?

I tried these suggestions and it seems to be working so far:

I was still having trouble. So I have uninstalled Firefox for the time being. Maybe I will try it again in the future.

In the six days since I uninstalled Firefox, I have not had this problem again.
Too bad, I was just getting used to it too. It is a superior browser, but that problem was annoying to the extreme.

Just so I'll know, that problem occurred even when you had emptied the computer's cache, and typed the address ?

Yup. I couldn't even connect with IE. It was starting to be a general problem for any website. I uninstalled and have not had a problem since.

Recently my Fx ( now 1.03, but problem starting at version 1.00 ), has developed another fault ( unless it's to do with something else in the computer and running processes ).
I click on the 'reply' or 'edit' to post. The loading takes a time, then once it's finished, there's a greyed out writing area, stopping any use. Beiged out, actually with intpcentral standard theme. Not emptying the cache*, emptying it before or after, makes no difference: just happens about 1 in 5 times. The only remedy is to close Fx completely ( making sure through Crtl-Alt-Del: since Fx has a distinct tendency to linger ), and restart it.
Anyone know the cause ?

* I may say that having recently added the cache to 'Empty Temp Folders 283' an application to clear out the stuff that Windows Forgot, I'm amazed at how big the Fx cache gets. From 5MB - 15MB, for a few hours browsing.

I check out the massive site www.allmusic.com frequently, but haven't cared for their new format much, which insisted on me registering etc. But I found that temporarily I could access that site anyway, even without remembering my password and username etc. So naturally that was how I dealt with it for a while. Then later it tells me that me ( or someone at my IP address ) is getting too much info without following procedures, and denies me access from Explorer. So I switch to Mozilla, and that works fine for a while. Then the same problem caught up to me there, too. I went with Firefox the other day, and it listed me as having already typed in the proper password as soon as I got on the site, automatically. No problems here. Haven't tried getting on INTPcentral with it. K

I had this with IE a few minutes ago. I hit this URL
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=forums.intpcentral.com
and got this
DNS Report for forums.intpcentral.com
Generated by www.DNSreport.com at 20:07:19 GMT on 21 Apr 2005.
[ERROR: I was unable to get an answer from the parent servers [ns2.travisbsd.org], when I tried to find the NS records for forums.intpcentral.com.]
Legend:
Rows with a FAIL indicate a problem that in most cases really should be fixed.
Rows with a WARN indicate a possible minor problem, which often is not worth pursuing.
Note that all information is accessed in real-time (except where noted), so this is the freshest information about your domain.
I did this external test in case it was a local/firewall problem.
Clearly there is an issue with the DNS server(s).

For my fellow geeks, this site is also useful.
