INTRODUCTION TO THE WAR THREAD AND RULES:

The hate crimes thread really got to me and brought my feelings out in a manner that I do not like. But the whole time I was conscious of this, trying to restrain myself and refute claims that didn't agree with me in a manner that showed respect towards others. I was not very successful, and I didn't really want to care at the time when I know I should have.

But I do want to be able to do this somewhere here, to spill out my disgust regarding certain shared views with complete abandon. I thought this would be the most appropriate place to do so.

So, if no one is opposed to such a thread where I am able to speak on matters without restraint, I would like to designate this thread for such activity. Furthermore, I sincerely welcome anyone else who wishes to "vent" with complete abandon on any matter to join in - even if it means venting on me.

For this thread, I wish to impose only one additional rule - NO QUOTING OF OTHER FORUM MEMBERS IS ALLOWED. This will allow both moderators and members to delete their own posts if they see any reason to do so at any future date, thereby wiping the slate clean, as it were.

Note: I do understand that there are rules in place to govern the forum in its entirety - including rules against personal attacks - so if any moderator wishes to delete this thread at some point, you have my full support.

Bullshit. Don't dare stand around and posture over your "enlightened", entirely selfish and self-serving vision, your stomping and tear dropping over rights you have to imagine are being crushed in order to feel fucking anything. Do you have any idea how good we've got it here in the US, how we don't have to worry about state-sanctioned death squads barging into our home, raping us and severing our arms to maintain control of diamond mines that bring in <1% of the income that de Beers generates...not to mention the italian suit retailer cut? That we can be distracted by sexual orientation instead of GSP bombs to make politics resemble anything interesting? Do you even give a shit? If you don't, maybe that's why you're having such a problem bothering to figure out first that most of the people holding positions in our government actually do give a shit about your lives, about your futures, and about this country. Let's consider finding out what they're actually doing, and then get off our lazy asses and reward those who serve the best interests of our country and those who serve to defend it.

If you don't give a shit and want to bother coming to this thread with your completely self-serving agenda without risking a spanking for your efforts, don't expect you'll get what you want from me.

Let's play for some real stakes for a change and give a shit about real issues!

I have a problem with some of the members. I think we're taking in a few INTJs and INFPs who misdiagnosed themselves. The old forum was hard to find, you had to search for it, you had to be really into MBTI to want to find it.

Now people are finding this site right after they take an online test. They've had no time to reflect on it, to understand it. Then they come on here and try to force the description on themselves. I think onmymindtoo may have been right, a person needs to not only take tests, but really study the descriptions and the underlying theory behind it to find their type.

I for one am tired of christians saying that god has helped them in there lives when they needed it-situations like 'i prayed for the money for my minor surgery and found it in the gutter' if god is so good to them why is there no money in the gutter in third world countries? arent the people there more deserving than us westerners.
to truely follow any religion you have to either be brought up conforiming to it or change yourself completely otherwise you will be a hypocrite.

Cant some people just accept the fact that not everyone is the same as them, it should be drummed into us at a young age that everyone is different, and if someone wants to be left alone than leave them alone-talk about them behind their back all you like but stay out of their space and private property.

I just saw this thread - actually I think letting the steam out is a good thing ;) I also think it is a nice touch that one should not quote in here, not only for deletion reasons - as I see it helps taking it off our chest without anyone feel too personally attacked.

I have no ranting for the moment - the only problem I have with some people in here is similar to what has already been said, too many people have mistyped themselves. The actual problem as far as I am concerned, is that we/some of us feel we "own" the type name we decided that describes us, and god help the ones that will say otherwise.... bah. We are supposed to want to find out what really works for us, not what we would like to be like... I think there are many Feelers and Sensors unser the INTP title in here, as there are some Nines under the Five title. I have no problem with other types, but hell, it bugs me to see the wrong label on the wrong jar. Sometimes the urge to start yelling "INTP my ass, don't you see you are SF???" gets too strong and frankly, my tongue starts hurting from all the biting :angry:

That's it for now, I'll do some serious ranting when I decide what I want to rant about first. I just hope this will not get too much out of hand.... (Johnny, shut up - this is not a moderator's comment either :P ;) )

I'm tired of people thinking that I am a genius because I took Differential Equations and actually passed it. Wtf?! Sure, so I did, but hell, you are only limiting yourself if you don't even freaking TRY to get into math. Math is not "impossible" or "really hard", damn it, it takes time, and yeah, it wasn't easy, but once you understand higher math you understand so many other things, about life, not just about school.

Arrogance and intolerance in general annoy me and INTPs are certainly not immune to it. I'm always seeing other personality types being bashed on this board as if they have some sort of impairment. God forbid if an INTP makes a statement showing that they may have an opinion on something showing that they used another function. Just because other people have different goals and values in life and enjoy things that you don't understand does not make you a better person, smarter, or more successful in life. I have no problem with questioning and debating such things, but it's a different matter when you act self-righteous and personally insult the way someone thinks or chooses to live.

I want to make it clear that I am not attacking anyone personally, more like, people in general with the ideas I described.

And I, for one, agree with the fact that INTPs are not gods and all intelligent, and I don't want to be typed and labelled and put in a box just because I have taken the test several times and have come out as one. I have also come out as other types, I simply came here to see if I could find some people open-minded enough with whom I might have something in common with and have some conversations with.

Taking out stress and such in here is a good idea, as long as you do that, let it out and not make it worse for you, inside. If you do...then, oh well...perhaps you should ignore this thread then.

Everyone is human and at some point one needs to let things out.

Personally, I think I am pretty mediocre, but that won't stop me from trying not to be.

Yeah, Aven...it was a slightly different time then. The war in Iraq was younger and intensive, the Presidential election was going on, and my nephew had just been sent to Iraq. I'd like this thread to stay somewhere where I can look at it again, to remind me of why this forum matters to me.

Change happens, it's just a fact. And yet, today is Leonardo da Vinci's birthday -- and he sounds as INTP as anyone here. For him, too, lots of what he did didn't last. I suspect that he may have been relieved, later, that some of his unfinished projects never reached their logical conclusion. I'm sure he wished that mural could have lasted longer.

Caught up in going from one thing to the next, and reacting to what's needed, and what's going on around -- it's really, really good to sit back, and listen to thoughtful and passionate reflection.

It matters to me, that I can read what you think. It matters that I can express myself to others who might not understand -- rather, to people who can grasp the concept that not understanding one another doesn't always ... equal a problem to be solved. I'm not, actually, trying to define more precisely what I appreciate here... besides, the list goes on into : "enjoying the company of other cantankerous people..." who are nevertheless bringig something, and getting something, in participating.

The fact that there's a way to do that is an important element in what's possible ( for having a place to think about things differently, for instance, away from whatever else, in company of others who like to do that, too ) in my opinion. *stopping, because I'm starting to drone on.*

Thanks, Clara! I think there's an incredible amount of potential in analytical psychology...and I think internet forums are tapping into that potential in an incredibly important way. I think Jung envisioned its practice only with respect to a well educated and thoughtful analyst, who could be both very sensitive to the dangers of projection and very understanding of the nature of human psychic activity, and a single patient at a time.

But the leveraging of analytical psychology to create Alcoholics Anonymous and other talk therapy institutions in America has completely blown the provincial doors of analytical psychology wide open...especially now with the internet and our current advanced communication tools. To me, it's a logical progression when we regard the rationalist philosophy that Jung's psychology supports...and so did Kant think this for his interest to see science flourish during his time...

The only door left to smash, in my opinion, is the provincial door of censorship, and I think Wikipedia, for one, is doing some hefty quality knocking!
