Just a general reminder that it is important to have a good virus-scanner or two and not to open attachments in emails from people with whom you haven't corresponded before. Even if you recognise the name.
:D :D :D :D :D :hello:
Fortunately my security is fine.
Use Thunderbird for mail & it won't automatically run scripts
Thunderbird (http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/features.html)
A good ( free ) Anti-virus program is AVG:
AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/)
And run Spybot & AdAware etc. regularly.
Enjoy the rest of your flight. B)

Anti-virus software and Adaware type stuff isn't hardcore though. Manually doing everything is more fun.

Oh no, I wouldn't check programs for viruses (virii?) manually, but you can prevent downloading most viruses anyway by just not being an idiot. Occasionally somebody will slip something you don't want on your computer in an installation file or whatever, and that's what I was talking about removing manually. XP actually let's you view all the running processes so it's really not that hard to figure out how to get rid of stuff you don't want. I've also removed quite a few annoying but non-destructive viruses off my friends' machines using only file search and regedit. edit: only a few times safe mode was necessary
I just don't trust anti-virus software. It's also rather annoying.
What adaware does though isn't that hard to do manually, but I'll admit I have used it once or twice.

ok. after thinking about it, I will remove the ability for someone to read your email address from your profile.
In your profile, there was a setting to "Always show my e-mail address" which if set to yes, someone can view your email address(without being a member, I think). I ran a query which set it to "no" for everyone but if I spider already went through, then it means the email addresses there were already taken. 18 people had it set to "yes" .. I will be modifying phpbb so it ALWAYS is no to protect the users. I feel bad about this. :(
If someone needs to contact another user, they can just PM them.

Don't worry about it FC, it's certainly not your fault; and usually that default is fine.
PMing someone first to tell them you're sending an email would also be good if you're on good terms enough to swap addresses. [ Please to note I'm sending you 'Bad-little-spider/Jetwing.V tomorrow. Run attached file ].
