One of the more useful things I get from INTPc is information about my type. Good type descriptions are hard to come by, the one we have here is very good, and I've trolled the forums looking for information. Another reason is my son is an INTP, and I look for information so I can help him as he grows up.
INTPc could be improved with a Wiki. We can take all this information about INTP's and collate it. Topics such as
INTP's in childhood, midlife, elder ...
Famous INTP's and why
INTP's an relationships
INTP's and careers
etc
The forums contain a lot of information, but I would be happy to contribute to a wiki where it could be collected and refined.

I second this idea, with the provision that editing rights are not an automatic given. We have no love for doing all the grunt work that is required to keep wiki pages troll-free.
I foresee this wiki being taken over by pages describing predominant posters rather than proper useful content, as many forum-generated wikis are inclined to do.
And plus, we're INTPs. Who's going to have the motivation to add to and edit the pages? Even thinking about it makes me feel tired.

We tried this already.

Are you kidding? Our type tends to think 'information is everything'. Via Ni our internal space is a well organized library. This group should do well organizing a Wiki - I would certainly work on it.

Excellent idea.

And? What happened? Why did it presumably fail?
I'd caution that just because something failed once, doesn't mean it would fail again.

Well, it didn't really happen. I think a few pages got started and then it quickly dissolved into a 'I'm not doing the work and everyone will fuck it up' ordeal. I'm sure it'd work again if you could find enough Js that INTPc is comfortable with to maintain it.

I said there will be problems with motivation, not information organisation. CC's post justifies my reservations perfectly.
I'm indifferent whether this goes through or not. Go ahead and test it.

I have a feeling that if this group was a mailing list and someone proposed we'd start a forum, a lot of people would say: it'll never work.
We should just try it. The beauty of a wiki is that it always turns into something. It might not be what you imagine it was going to be, but it will exist. If nothing else, it can give us some arguments and drama.

I think that what you are talking about is an INTP wiki
The reason that I make the distinction is that I was preparing to make a thread which suggests making an INTPc wiki.
INTPc can and does go through change and if you arent paying attention you can find yourself lost.
We need an encyclopedic reference to memes, ownership, banned members, catastrophic events, NF purges, meetups, catfights, alliances, charismatic members etc.

I rather not have that information in an easily indexed place. Part of the security and privacy of this forum is the fact that most of the interesting things about individual members are encrypted in pages upon pages of useless bullshit. A casual observer would never make the connection between this forum and the real life person unless they actually became involved members of this site.

A good thing to consider. We should hide it from being indexed - it's not such a hard thing to do.

Before long these pages will be so sidewikied (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/help-and-learn-from-others-as-you.html) that this will be a mute point
besides, as I understand it. the Wikipedia entry is already under construction.

In principle I like the idea of an INTPc wiki. In practice wikis are a lot of work to maintain, and INTPc is full of lazy ingrates, so it is almost guaranteed to fail. It should not fall to the madmin staff to oversee such a project, because they already have plenty to do, so a wiki panel would have to be created from among the user base to generate content and oversee its long-term maintenance. The question, then, is whether there are any competent, qualified persons at the site who have a bunch of free time on their hands to devote to a project in which they have no ownership stake, to serve a forum which, as mentioned, is full of lazy ingrates.
If the OP is saying that he's willing to spearhead the project and dump many hours of his time into making it work, and form a team to help him, that's one thing, but if he's just saying it's a good idea and someone should do it, that's quite another. There's a good chance INTPc would benefit from the former, but it would definitely not benefit from the latter.
An INTP wiki or an INTPc wiki? Or a combination? An INTPc wiki would be a total failure, even the thought of it is cringe inducing. We'd probably have too much trouble agreeing on information for an INTP wiki, but who knows.

I think an INTPc wiki would be better. We could create pages for individual members and anyone would be free to edit them. This would likely create drama and lulz, which have historically proven to be good IMO.

Could you elaborate on that?

Yeah we did try it. We got it all planned out and talked about how awesome it would be, did a couple pages, and then didn't follow through.

OK, I'll volunteer to spearhead an effort. Let's see where this goes.
Please indicate in this thread, or PM me if you are willing to work on it too.

Go for it.
it's a pretty idea, but i think google is convenient enough, especially for xNTPs, who aren't likely to trust or be satisfied with a single source anyway. and realistically, it isn't going to happen. if it does, let me know. it'd be fun to contribute for the sake of a project
in that vein, though, i'd rather design a more accurate test, as in this (http://forums.intpcentral.com/showthread.php?t=37598) thread
