Yikes...
Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

zeitgeist,
you quote nietzsche/ goethe, is the quote by nietzsche or by goethe? And if nietzsche, have you read any of his work in its original german form?
I picked up "beyond good and evil" again last night (english transl.). I just love his thick, rich style. Did you know that Fukuyama quotes Nietzsche often in his "Last Man"?

Is anyone doing anything with the results everyone posts from the various tests people post here. It just seems to me that on most of the tests, most everyone here has very similiar results. Particularly on MBTI type tests... We all already know (most of us) that we are INTP... It's like restating what has already been stated... Kinda redundant

Yay first leftie.
I don't think the test was very well-set though, I mean, when asked whether you like rules or not, most people will say no. Nor will people say they are "conventional" or like to follow routine.

Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.
Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.
Overall you appear to be Left Brain Dominant
-----------------------------------------
According to Darwinian theory, optimal evolution takes place with random variation and selective retention. The evolution savvy individual will try many different approaches when faced with a problem and select the best of those approaches. Many historical intellectuals have confessed their advantage was simply considering/exploring/trying more approaches than others. The left brain dominant type suffers from limited approaches, narrow-mindedness. The right brain dominant type suffers from too many approaches, scatterbrained. To maintain balanced hemispheres, you need to exercise both variability and selection. Just as a company will have more chance of finding a great candidate by increasing their applicant pool, an individual who considers a wider set of options is more likely to make quality decisions.

If I were to make a prediction, largely irrespective of the results of the test, I would imagine the possibility of most INTP's being strongly mid-brained. Just look at how many INTP's are computer programmers. In my experience, people tend to see left-brain and right-brain modes of operation as being mutually-exclusive, and often see us INTP's as analytical only.

Yes, as analytical would translate to left-brained (correct?), yet most of the people here seem to be fairly balanced with a slight skew towards right-brained, which (if I'm reading correctly) is NOT the logical/analytical part (i.e., the hallmark of INTP's)...as such it seems that my 52R/44L result is pretty typical...we seem to have the best of both worlds. Maybe everyone IS a unique snowflake.

I usually score more "right brained".
If I am generally representative of equidominance, I don't recommend it.
I suspect it results in confusion that is less likely with a more definitive lateralization.

right 48, left 50
... I'm pretty balanced, though slightly toward the right.
I actually had a lot of problems with that in grade school. I was completely balanced and was ambidextrous, I had trouble deciding which hand to use any time I did anything, and had to rethink the task based on it. So, a doctor made me choose, so now I'm:
Right brained (associated with left side of body), left handed, right footed, right eyed.
I would have expected higher left brained functions from most of the people here, but I guess we're more on the creative, imaginative side of intellectualism.

I know some neuroanatomy, medically speaking.
Right three dimensional modeling, putting your clothes on etc, singing (as opposed to the left brain speaking)
left brain speaking and understanding spoken language
Intuitive can be either spatial or non-spatial (ie predicted language)
so I think the left/right brain thinig is far overrated

If you just look at facts and minor details you wont be able to sumarize information which makes it difficult to analyze situations. So it is understandable that INTPs are generally speaking more inclined to use their right brain. However the fact that you are dominant right brain doesnt mean that you are a complete idiot with your left brain it simply means that you have a prefference for that hemisphere. In other words kuddos for anybody here who preffers their right brain which is where ideas and fantasy worlds develop and major ground breaking discoveries are made.
