Differences between your "real" self and your "ideal" self.
It said I was really and INTJ, and ideally an INTJ. I've been getting INTJ everytime I take the test lately.

real is INTP, ideal is ENTJ
The NT part has always been very clear in whatever test I took, the I/E was less clear. J is often so much handier in daily life than P although I see the benefits (stress/ chaos/ deadlines don't make me nervous at all and I feel in total control in new or unfamiliar situations). The N actually gives me the most stress in private life as my wife is very S. For one I do not read any traffic signs and often go by gut, which is not always the safest in traffic! :)

I thought it was more redundant than anything else. But yeah. Going around with one's head in the clouds is not such a good thing at school. My math teacher called me up to see my test grade and I was just: "Huh?" I got up there, stare at the paper and it's like: "So what about it?"
Teacher:"See you test grade."
Me:"Oh." Shambles back to seat with class laughing at me.
Yeah, so a bit more down to earthness would be prima. Otherwise, I like myself just the way I am.

I retook and got INTP/INTP. First time I did it I was half high. I think my defense mechanism is being an INTJ. I get very stone faced, and weak in relating to people as a defense machanism, and I feel vulnerable when high, hence triggereing it. But naturally I think I'm INTP for sure. Aye yam what aye yam... Really INTP, wannabe INTP...
Though my hidden desire is to be more J than I am (though not really J)...
So if I want to be more J does that mean my introverted T isn't really my strongest suit? Doesn't that make my extroverted N the strongest? Doesn't that make me an ENTP?
This only reinforces my beliefs that the MBTI, like all models, is limited. We spend far too much time splitting hairs over this stuff, trying to find details in what is really a rough model. Interesting to be sure (and we're obviously all suckers for a new test) but useful?

I prefer to be an INFJ, but with some improvement in the socializing area. If I could lose some of the reticence ingrained in my personality and be more forward and direct with people, I would be my ideal self. People mistake me for an INTJ, but I'm glad I'm not. I like myself just the way I am.

In response to whoever commented on the large number of people with ENTJ as their ideal, yup. I would have picked ENTJ as ideal even without the test though.
I don't think the INFP part is totally off either. I have very strong emotions, I just put forth a constant, conscious effort to restrain them and think clearly. Of course right now I have my son sitting in my lap, I wound up getting him in the middle of the week instead of the weekend and I'm happy about it so maybe that influenced the test a bit. :)
EDIT: I actually like this test, maybe it helps you see how you're idealizing your responses to other MBTI-style tests.

I can honestly say, if have found myself to be INTJ and am supremely happy with that. I would never wish I was something else, especially at this point in my adult life. Maybe when I was like 6 or something. That's just me. I think INTJs would agree with me. We know what we want and when we want it. And we want it really bad. But we don' t change our objective.
You know what? I love life. I am glad I am unique. Am I unique? I hope so. I love the whole process of living and interacting with people, even though I truly only love interacting with people who I would have an intimate relationship with. But I like everyone else, really!

Course, the problem there is that as an SJ, I'd probably never want to flip back to my damnable NT self.

Well, what we really should do is build some training camps in a remote part of the country and then slyly kidnap a few hundred SJ children and raise them in isolation. Then we'd have a small army of brainwashed minions at our disposal.

I'm a real INTP who wants to be an ENTJ... interesting. My extroversion is the same for both real and ideal, but I want to be less introverted on my ideal one.
On my N/S and T/F axis, who I want to be and who I am is almost identical.
Apparently, I want to be a lot more judging and less perceiving... o.O;

Real: INTJ
Ideal: ENTJ
I like who I am, it's others I would change not myself.
Reality - INTP
Ideal - INTP
That's not to say that I think INTP is necesarily any better than all other personality types (some though yes), rather that I am comfortable in my own skin and recognise the fultility of changing type.

It said I was INTP who wants to be like INTJ. But, I think I am more of an INFP who will end up INTJ like in their behavior. I had a bout of existential blalblablalbla life circumstance which caused a delay in this transformation.
