C'mon

we can surely be callous, but the majority of the population are SJs. We arent savants in the area to be sure, but plenty of us are at least average.

All of the EQ tests I've taken say that I'm much higher than average. I usually ace face perception tests. However, I don't think an online test, or any single test that I've seen for that matter, is capable of giving insight into someone's true emotional intelligence. I follow the Goleman model of EQ, which breaks it down into the following (with how I rate myself in parenthesis -- BAV, AV, and AAV):

SELF-AWARENESS (net AAV)
Emotional Awareness: recognizing one's emotions and their effect (AAV)
Accurate Self-assessment: knowing one's strengths and limits (AAV)
Self-confidence: A strong sense of one's self-worth and capabilities (AV)

SELF-REGULATION (net BAV)
Self-control: Keeping disruptive emotions and impulses in check (BAV)
Trustworthiness: Maintaining standards of honesty and integrity (AV)
Conscientiousness: Taking responsibility for personal performance (AV)
Adaptability: Flexibility in handling change (AAV)
Innovation: Being comfortable with novel ideas, approaches and new information (AAV)

MOTIVATION (net BAV)
Achievement drive: Striving to improve or meet a standard of excellence (AAV)
Commitment: Aligning with the goals of the group or organization (BAV)
Initiative: Readiness to act on opportunities (BAV)
Optimism: Persistence in pursuing goals despite obstacles and setbacks (BAV)

EMPATHY (net AAV)
Understanding others: sensing others' feelings and perspectives, taking an active interest in their concerns (AAV)
Developing others: Sensing others development needs and bolstering their abilities (AV)
Service orientation: Anticipating, recognizing, and meeting customers' needs (BAV)
Leveraging diversity: Cultivating opportunities through different kinds of people (AV)
Political Awareness: Reading a group's emotional currents and power relationships (AAV)

SOCIAL SKILLS (net BAV)
Influence: Wielding effective tactics for persuasion (BAV)
Communication: Listening openly and sending convincing messages (AAV)
Conflict management: Negotiating and resolving disagreements (BAV)
Leadership: Inspiring and guiding individuals and groups (BAV)
Change Catalyst: Initiating or managing change (BAV)
Building bonds: Nurturing instrumental relationships (BAV)
Collaboration and cooperation: Working with others toward shared goals (BAV)
Team capabilities: creating group synergy in pursuing collective goals (BAV)

Anyways, assuming EQ were distributed like IQ, 60 would be the bottom 0.4%

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that INTPc is around 100 or so.

^^^ A review of the online test thread was interesting. Highly polarized results.

.

Yeah, OR, this test was pretty cool.

The problem with EQ seems to me that someone can have a very high EQ or skew their score easily and still act idiotically...from an EQ standpoint.

I think it's like Kolberg's theory of moral reasoning. In that experiment you can have the highest level of moral reasoning, and still electrocute someone for fun. The ability to reason morally at the highest level does not say what choice that person will make.

Perhaps Hitler had a high EQ, but he made ugly decisions, very ugly. He used his high EQ to sway the masses.

But, what can we expect? If we want sensitivity and sentimentality, then we should go join a Feeling forum. Yet, then again, I think some people use high IQ and EQ alone to justify their arguments and their bad behavior. They say, "I'm smarter intellectually and emotionally, so there, I win."

I'd say top of the range. 60.

Idiom, how can you claim to have a high eq when you can't even read the behavior o your own proff. That's why this poll is funny, because while intps are generally smart, they can be quite inept at dealing with social situations. Your serious response to a poll that is clearly meant as satire demonstrates this as well.

Maybe you should go back and reread what I posted. I don't claim to have a high EQ, only that it's easy to test as so. If you look at my self-assessment, (BAV, AV, AAV) then you'll see that I come out as net below average.

~90, pretty low average, as a whole. Deckard, bluebell, Aelan, C.J.Woolf, Ape and a couple of others pull it up drastically. Without certain posters (who happen to be generally intelligent, too...I'm excluding a lot of people 'cuz I'm lazy) I'd say about 60-70. Yeah, I'm playing fast and loose with numbers. It's how I get my thrills.

I just like polls that have 42 as an option...

This one's either a smooth talker or a total bot. Sort of low motivation, though. (http://forums.intpcentral.com/member.php?u=24139)

I'm INTP, but actually got 97th percentile on a legitimate EQ test. It's possible. It's mostly about being empathetic and trusting your gut.
