I have found the use of emoticons to be fun, and I have found other fun emoticons/smilies in other forums that expand on the expressions available here (e.g., cops, pirates, hugs). Can we suggest more emoticons to be made available here, or is what we have now a "fixed list"?  :D

there isn't a fixed amount of smilies. the smilies for this board were originally different so I imported all the ones from the previous board.. yeah..

so.. yeah.. you can suggest some.. but don't suggest 100

Yep, like fc said, it's perfectly possible to add more smilies, but I'd like to keep the number pretty sensible. Why don't you post your suggestions in this thread, and we'll see if they're worthy? :D

 O.K. Another forum allows me to choose a smilie with a sombrero and a long, black mustache. How can this forum survive without a sobrero emoticon option?

Or the cop with a smile, the Star Trek emoticon with the red dot for the eyeball and the Mona Lisa smile, the laser cannon firing emoticon that roasts an unsuspecting victim emoticon, or (my favorite) the oblivious emoticon that receives a hug from another approaching emoticon and displays a smile for it?

Must the INTP forum display such miserliness, to abstain from a continuing wealth of emoticon richness? Let's dispense with sensibility and err on the side of unrestrained excess!:D

The ones I'm talking about can be found here when I post in this forum:http://www.cgjungpage.org/forum/

How do I upload the selected smilies here from that other webpage?

Ooooo! What a lovely forum!

Well, you see... if there's a smiley you'd like to use, but this forum doesn't have it, you can always upload the smiley on the web (such as using the image uploader of this site) and then hotlink to the image using the img tag.

Hmm, eh... it's survived so far. :D ;P

There are many nice smilies at the jung forum. Unfortunately you have pointed out my least favorite ones. Though I must admit the hug smiley is nice.

There is a little problem. The admin is very corrupted, and she adds new smilies simply based on an I-feel-like-this principle. Unless, of course, file cabinet likes your suggested smilies and adds them.

However, the above quote shows you asked very nicely, so I shall consider adding the ones you suggested. Meanwhile, if you can't survive without your sombrero smiley, just upload it somewhere and hotlink. You could always hotlink to the jung forum, but stealing their bandwidth would be very rude, and what's more unwelcome, would show in their server logs.

I'll have to educate myself on the steps (and, um, terminology meanings) for uploading hotlinks, stealing bandwidth, and server log revelations. But I'm glad you like the Jung forum too...not too many "I'm INTP and Proud!" banners there though.

Also, for the record, it's never been the smilies that drew me here. :D

Okies, I added some of my favorites. Johnny, I also added the sombrero smiley just because you pointed me to that über cool Jung forum and I wanted to show my gratitude somehow. :sombrero:

To me, emoticons offer what one's body and/or facial expressions would be - it's a body language thing that fills in the gaps on one's intentions or whatever.

I like the hugs smilie because it is an unexpected, but welcome, reception. It can represent inspiration, support, or good fortune...or it can be a gesture of love or kindness as you have offered, Onmymind_too.

Wow, that's a great emoticon! There is this girl in my Philosophy class that I wouldn't mind doing that to. Well, me and about 12 others...

Ok, I realized another one we need. Some sort of zombie/living dead kind of thing. Something that somehow denotes posting at three in the morning or on not enough sleep.

It would be even better if it was animated... did a little reaching/grasping thing...

I agree with jimkopelli. He just got me today and what wouldn't I do for such a wonderful smiley to show my state of lacking a brain...
