View Full Version : What's the etiquette for a Christian man trimming a Muslim's beard?

Running the fuck away.
A Christian barber in this Punjab Province city is still recovering from broken bones and other injuries sustained earlier this month after eight Muslims allegedly beat and sodomized him for cutting the beard of a Muslim.

I can't help but just shrug at this, since this behavior happens all the time, but the context is a little different.

That is fucked up. First, how is it the barber's fault the dude wanted his beard cut? Second, shaving = bad, butt rape = good?

Second, shaving = bad, butt rape = good?
Rules like that make sense for a schizophrenic desert man living in 621 A.D.

Barbers get battered and sodomised all the time?
You must live in a rough neighbourhood. Or an Islamic one.

I think it was saying shaving = butt rape.
This, however, makes me wonder if they go around beating and shaving homosexuals.

So, butt-sechs is halal, but I have to grow a beard?
I think I'm going to just stick with Scientology. They let you use Hollywood actresses as beards.

I don't think Muhammad would condone this behavior. I could be wrong. What are your sources? How much time have you spent studying Islam and the Qur'an?

So how do you decide whether or not stereotyping and bigotry against a group is okay? Is it just religious bigotry you go for? How 'bout race, gender, class?

Now that I think about it, were American barbers to live in fear of similar treatment, I might not have to endure so many shitty haircuts. One can dream.

How do you decide when somebody is making a joke? Is it when you're baffled?

None, I was making fun of it.

I see nothing wrong with attacking an ultimately harmful belief system, as all religions are. I also attack harmful politics. Not all attacks are in bounds; I wouldn't say "those fucking republicans should all be hanged", but making fun of republicanism for being stupid is acceptable.

So if after hearing a similar news story, would you say something like "You must live in a rough neighbourhood. Or a black neighborhood"? Of course, drawing lines along race and along religion are two different things. Hence my question.

How are you so confident that Islam is an ultimately harmful belief system if you haven't studied it? I mean maybe it is, I don't know. Maybe all religion is. What have read that led you to this conclusion? Or has your own intense study of history led you here? Because in my non-expert, cursory look at history, it seems that both secular and religious institutions can be harmful or positive, depending on a myriad of variables, the relationships between which are not well understood. Maybe you've written a post elsewhere online that you could point me to?

I said 'Islamic' rather than 'Muslim', and since the sauce is relating yet another instance of Islamic barbarism (srs face) I scarcely see how it's equivalent of saying "lol! ghetto!"

I'm gonna open up a gay Christian/Muslim beard shaving club.
"Oh no! I shaved your beard! Please don't buttfuck me, I forgot to wear underwear tonight!"

I dunno, pointing out cultural differences and crossing lines intentionally is a large part of humor. You don't actually have to fully believe something you say as a joke. it's sorta like saying.."Wow, what INTJ forum did you spawn from?"

Well, You can't imagine God / Allah without a big manly beard now can you? Without it's authority He'd have the Devil up his ass so quick His head would spin.
Just ask a McNinja - inferior facial hair destroys all plans for global domination.

In Soviet Russia irony makes fun with you!

Too true, but a part of that is the knowledge that there is someone among us who would likely find what we say offensive and want to engage us on it. And if we're honest, almost everyone has a thing that they are not so good at taking a joke about. Also, I think it's kinda accepted that often people aren't making jokes when they talk about coming from or going to the INTJ forum. But that might just be because they just been in the designated serious part of those forums.

Bigotry is one thing. But I refuse, abjectly refuse, to turn a blind eye to the ridiculous.
I'm sorry, but I reserve the right to point and laugh at your stupid ass. Deal.

The barber wasn't a noob and he knew what the deal was. It was therefore the barber's decision to accept the consequences of shaving his beard.
The barber in good conscious made a decision. There is no problem with making a bad decision.

Christian Barber:
*sharpens a rusty sword and piles stones to throw at sinners*
Would you enjoy a heathen hair cut? Double-price for a non-Nazarite.
Islamic Extremist: A-la! A-la! A-la! A-la A-little off the sides, please.
Christian Barber: I only do holy touch-ups and heretic neck-cuts. Choose wisely.
Islamic Extremist: Well, good sir, Allah will decide for me.
*three hours pass until the Islamic extremist grows bored*
Islamic Extremist: Umm. Yeah. He just spoke to me.
Christian Barber: I didn't hear anything.
Islamic Extremist: He whispered his will to me.
Christian Barber: You mistake him for my God. He owns real estate in the clouds, near Peter's penthouse, off 666 and brimstone. He, known as I AM, used to reside in Sodom & Gomorra with a few devilish prostitutes but he didn't care for the crime; not a good place to raise your children, which are really you.
Islamic Extremist:
*searches his wife's hajib for money*
Son of a camel-dick.
I forgot all my cash. Do you accept rape?
Christian Barber: Usually that policy is reserved for choir boys but you caught me on a slow day.
