Ptah and I finally met up. At a pizza pub near where he lives, in suburban Chicago-land. It turns out I live not far from there.
Ptah was a pleasant dinner companion, and not at all like some of his his posts might lead one to infer. ( Although he did cheerfully chide me that "we haven't discussed philosophy yet". ) We actually ( without intending to do so ahead of time ) discussed pre-"personal philosophy" issues such as "nature or nurture", by comparing our own developmental backgrounds and talking about various theories that relate to this subject. ( This was not as dry as I have made it seem, by summarizing it here for you. )
We decided that we would not return to this particular pub again, at least during dinner time, since it became crowded and extremely noisy after a while. There was a man making loud announcements through a megaphone or something, which I thought at first was a pep rally that just wouldn't end, but turned out to be a "trivia" game. We decided to end the first meeting at that point, having spent a couple hours already.
The pizza there was pretty good. I had green olives and another ingredient on mine, and Ptah had plain cheese. They had a special kind of root beer there, that I liked, as well. Ptah had lime flavored beer-beer.
As we parted, Ptah invited me to hang out with his friends at some parties and game occasions coming up, and I'll be there. I haven't met Sekhmet yet.

Are you into facials? Are you volunteering to be the recipient of one ? See the thread for my opinion on giving these....You'll have to make it clear that you really want it bad...

I suppose you're right. A mod can move it if they want. * shrug *

Sounds fun. I could go for some Chicago style pizza. We had a thin crust, although the restaurant was originally successful due to its bagels ( and they still serve burgers in bagels, etc. if you want some ) and so their crust was pretty good, if not thick.
"Chicago-style" often refers to "pan" pizza ( thicker ) or stuffed pizza ( thicker yet ) . I like both of those also, even though they are more expensive.
I've heard that East Coasters tend to dislike these thicker types, especially "stuffed", as it is better eaten with a fork, versus a thin crust that can be curled in your hand etc.
New Yorkers might even say "That's more like a 'pizza soup' or something" referring to the way a stuffed pizza may look when it is still very hot and gooey, having just been delivered to your table.
Bah. New York. I've seen this trend developing further in the last year. Soon it will be "pizza wafers" or "pizza crisps". I might like such things as a side dish.....

Overall,
:highfive:
Some comments fwiw.
Ptah was a pleasant dinner companion, and not at all like some of his his posts might lead one to infer. ( Although he did cheerfully chide me that "we haven't discussed philosophy yet". )
Also, as some others here who have met me IRL could perhaps attest, I tend to run in a more or less gregarious inquisitive mode in social sitautions such as this (that is, where I've decided to make an effort to be sociable for whatever reason or another).
The closest I recall coming to dropping the facade and going on the attack was when you pitched the history of a particular playing card.
And, yes, since no philosophy was discussed.... things remained civil.
heh.
We actually ( without intending to do so ahead of time ) discussed pre-"personal philosophy" issues such as "nature or nurture", by comparing our own developmental backgrounds and talking about various theories that relate to this subject. ( This was not as dry as I have made it seem, by summarizing it here for you. )
Right. The "personal philosophy" was just there between the lines of what was discussed, at first. It only went explicit "nature vs. nurture" once.
The pizza there was pretty good. I had green olives and another ingredient on mine, and Ptah had plain cheese. They had a special kind fairly common variety of root beer there, that I liked, as well. Ptah had lime flavored beer-beer Corona w/ lime.
fixed.
As we parted, Ptah invited me to hang out with his friends at some parties and game occasions coming up, and I'll be there. I haven't met Sekhmet yet.
There may be actual photos out of this one, be warned...

The closest I recall coming to dropping the facade and going on the attack was when you pitched the history of a particular playing card. When you thought I had forgotten the Tarot ? Dropping the facade ? What's this ? Would that leave only the "Ptahd" ?
fixed. Well, it's not a common root beer like Dad's or Hires etc. I couldn't remember the name "Corona" and so I left it at that.....

You skipped out on trivia? An INTPC trivia team would be incredible... as long as the questions don't pertain to popular culture.

When you thought I had forgotten the Tarot ? Dropping the facade ? What's this ?
It was about the relationship between Joker cards and The Fool. But then soon thereafter we each agreed there are "a few theories" out there, and so I realized there was no necessary or appropriate change in conversational posture. Just a line of future discussion, sort out the details.
Buckle up, this may sound trite, but I think it gets the idea across: The "facade" is more or less what I call "the chameleon" behavior I go into during such social circumstances; where you might say I let Ne/Fe run the show, adapting to and -- in effect -- mirroring the behavior or the other person (or gestalt as such of many people). So say I find a gregarious friendly type, I'll run along those lines. Say its a reserved, quiet type instead -- the same will come from me. All this until the first time -- say -- Ti (ie, my inner thoughts/monitor of the proceedings) catches something go by that calls for an adjustment in behavior(-al posture) as suits the turn of conversation I'm about to take or react to.
So for instance something going against (and/or calling for) my principles or firm beliefs that goes by in an otherwise ha-ha moment. That would call for dropping (or adjusting) the "facade".
Now, you pointed out in the first few moments that I was not much like my posts here on the forum would suggest (or something like that). And I think I quickly explained that the social circumtances so far haven't called for any such behavior (internally, I thought, "yet"), and in doing so I think I actually used a word to describe the overall tone of your behavior as I had evaluated it so far (which was the keyword for what I was beginning to emulate/mirror).
Moreover, as I believe I explained later, when at a keyboard I have a tendancy to communicate in a way influenced by how my mind's adapted to the rest of the countless hours I spend in front of a computer -- in a dominantly analytical, Ti-based way (as suits programming/debugging).

No, no, no... I am absolutely awful at trivia. My head's too full of things not at all of this world. And so occupied is my day-to-day, moment-to-moment attention.
Even along my supposed lines of real-world interest, I don't have a mind for trivia.
edit: honestly, at first I marvel at how anyone whatsoever could have such a collection of trivia in their head so surfaced to ad-hoc recall. But then I liken it to how I could go on about this or that random detail from my imaginary universe, some factoid or nuance thereof, etc. Then I figure its just a difference in where attention is paid.

Cheese-only is the pizza of diplomacy.
Moreover, as I believe I explained at the time, I do like certain toppings on pizza. But only if done right (that is to say, so very often they are done horribly wrong and so I do not order them).
With a cheese pizza there's less to screw up. Likewise for thin crust.

Yes, I do remember you explaining that. I left it out of my description because people here often feel that I supply too many details.
I've had pizza people screw up by supplying un-ripe ingredients or too few ingredients or ( in the case of onions ) too many raw ones vs. sauteed onions. For the most part, though, they just put the sliced whatever on the pizza and cook them along with the pizza, and this seems to work out OK for me. I suppose I'd give a new restaurant the benefit of the doubt on ingredients until they had screwed up vs. assuming they all suck at doing something like scattering some slices of vegetables and baking them up with the pizza.
What ingredients do you enjoy when the chef is Ptah Himself ? ;) How do you prepare them ( or others ) differently than the average pizza place would ?
The one ingredient that I've noticed some places get wrong often enough is pesto sauce.
You skipped out on trivia? An INTPC trivia team would be incredible... as long as the questions don't pertain to popular culture. I was more focused on getting to know Ptah.
There were several large tables worth of people involved ( yelling and gesticulating ) in the trivia game and it looked like a "clusterfuck", as OMW likes to say.
We were the only INTP's ( as far as I know ) there.
I suppose that we would have had to sign up ahead of time to play, if we had wanted to.
There were young guys yelling at the screens earlier, protesting or endorsing some TV sports views, and at first I just thought it was just more of that. When the guy with the megaphone showed up, I figured the pub had sponsored some baseball team, and this was the coach showing up to do his special cheerleading. I was mostly thinking "STFU" and not "How can I be part of this ? " ( The megaphone voice was distorted and I had no idea what he was saying. )
We found out what it actually was, when we were taking care of our bill.
I'm generally very good only in certain categories of trivia games. They can be fun, though, in small doses.
My Mom loves these things in her neighborhood. She's in her 80's and its the one thing that gets her out and about these days, besides walking the dogs.

I want to meet! How come the INTP gets to meet people and the ENFJ has to wait? Doesn't everyone know I am bad at waiting???

;)I had hoped to meet you on our first get-together, and Ptah had told me that ( if I wanted to do this ) I should not pick Thursday, since you had your dance class then. Originally I was going for Wednesday, but another situation came along to make me choose Thursday instead. ( Someone I had set up a visit with earlier had a cancellation/switch, and wanted me to come by a day early. )
Ptah said that you would probably not be back until midnight because of a party with your dance class friends.
I've got to work a rock show this coming holiday weekend, starting Friday, and so I'm not sure if I will make your home party or not. But we will probably see one another soon. I keep having this image flash of us all on a ferris wheel ! No idea why. Since I haven't met you yet, your image in this scenario is still that of Supergirl. :)
